Dar-Ren Bent!

No thread for the guy? You people make me sick.

Effectively won the game for us today. Scored one. Made the other. Did brilliantly for O'Hara's goal.

Played, D Bizzle.

I was going to start a thread called 'Darrn Bent, Superstar!', but I didnt. He did a good job today, though. Just what was needed - what you would expect an expensive striker to be able to do. In fact, what Defoe might have been brought on to do, except he probably wouldn't have passed for O' Hara to score. And he doesn't play for us. But you get the point I was trying to make.

Hopefully certain people will now get off his case.

Changed the game and hopefully gave him a spark of confidence.

Well played!

he made a big impact today, looked dangerous everytime the ball was near him. Hopefully he will grow more and more in confidence and be given more playing time to prove his worth.

A lot of his game is down to pace which in turn is derived from his fitness. Fitness first - pace - GOALS>

I also liked the fact that he was looking to shoot more often (example the shot that James saved late on) he looked as if he felt he could score again.

If he continues in this frame of mind he is going to get chances when we play at home, especially if Huddlestone is playing, the more he gets the more he will score the better he will become, maybe he will find himself back in the England squad before long (6 goals in 6 games did for Defoe, maybe similar result for D Bizzle as he seems to have been dubbed)

I was really delighted for Bent today. He got a break which gave him his chance, and he took it really well.

Then, my favourite moment of the match, when Huddlestone played the through ball which led to the second goal....

Lovely to see the confidence that goal gave him. Suddenly, there was the power and pace we bought him in anticipation of seeing in the white shirt. Bullied his way past the defender and kept his head really well to pick out a colleague.

And bullied the defender again thereafter. Great stuff. And I hope he gets more chances and more goals. That strength and pace is something totally different from what Berbs and Keano give us. Looking forward to him being here next season and starting to become a legend.

Hope Bent stays

I think today we saw glimpses of what Darren can do,he changed the game after coming on,nicked a goal and used his pace and power to set the 2nd up.I still dont think he's playing with confidence either,he almost seems to try to hard sometimes, but i think with a decent run in the team he'd prove to be a good signing.

Anyway,i hope he decides to stick it out with us,and isnt moved on in the summer.

I have been getting on bents back since he signed but today is exactly what i was looking for from him, especially for the 2nd goal. determination and drive. last month he would have seen haridarson behind him and just passed backwards, full credit to him for trying something

I think he will stay, I cant see the club writing off such an expensive signing without having more time to prove his worth.

Unless either Ramos or Bent himself wanted him gone with a passion.

On a side note, hats of to Mr Ramos again, his changes effectively won us the game today, both scored one also made an assist and the game was changed at the right time and turned one point into three.

He did really well for O'Hara's goal.

The game had become stretched and he loves to get in behind and run onto the ball-which is exactly what he was able to do. I'd love to see him be a real success at Spurs but for him to play regularly either we need to change our way of play or he needs to adapt. Maybe he is a better bet to start away from home?

I think that Bent is all about service.

If we get decent crosses and through-balls to him he will score and assist.
He's never going to drop deep and get the ball so is always liable to disappear from games which is something we saw from Defoe, especially over 90 minutes.

But if the likes of Huddlestone can get the ball to him in the right places it shows why his goals/assists ratio (excluding penalties) and shot accuracy is on a par with Berbatov's (cheers to Bobbins and SS57 for those facts).

He might not possess the bells and whistles of our other strikers but with the right midfield could actually be just as effective.
