Morning people,

It's been a long time in the making, decades in fact, but some crazy person is finally going to let me write about Tottenham Hotspur for a living. The Hertfordshire Mercury covered the club for decades and then stopped when they moved the training ground out of its patch years before my arrival at the paper.
Now the training ground is back in Mercury territory and I've finally been able to successfully argue we should be covering a club that has fans throughout Herts and Essex.

I'll hopefully be at every game, home and away, with interviews, reports, transfer stories and hopefully pieces like my old columns if I can remember how to do them! I'm already on Twitter at @AlasdairGold for anyone that wants to give me a follow.

Here's the story launching our coverage on our site.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at Spurscommunity for starting me off on the journey that got me here. I wouldn't be in the position I am now as a knackered old sports editor with a big smile on my face if it wasn't for you wonderful people, especially Rob who gave me my shot back in the day, and all the great people who read my nonsense.

Here's to the future and a brilliant season and hopefully something special at the end of it all.

Cheers,

Ally

Congrats, good to be able to read your stuff again. Always nice to know its a fan writing these things.

Also, you know that if you get stuck for something to write, you can stick up one of @Archibald&Crooks 's ITK thread stories about Levy. Don't need to worry about libel - he assures us it's all true.

We've got a Facebook page set up now for our Hertfordshire Mercury Spurs stuff. Please do give it a like if you're over that way and you feel the need. It's right here.

And we have our own Spurs page here.

Legend! As a few others have said, I first got hooked into SC reading your blogs & 'Ode To Jol' remains one of my favourite ever Christmas presents. So yeah, thank you for giving me SC, along with Rob & the Mod Squad - I look forward to reading your reports, mate...

Ally, you are Hitchin yourself? My misses has just opened up a Coffee shop there a few months ago - The White House. Small world! I used to enjoy reading your articles a few years ago, nice to see you back on here.
