Looks a bit clumsy to me. Wouldn't buy off this performance that's for sure. Certainly not for the new prices being quoted

Agreed but it's hard to judge on one game, he hasn't had any chances really bar one he created himself.

Plenty of times where if you'd watched Kane for one game when he's not at it you'd think he was a donkey.

It's difficult to judge from just one game, but I've seen nothing to suggest hes worth anywhere near €70m-€90m. Would help if he had some service into him, but on this showing, I dont see a huge difference between him and vinicius. Again, not fair to judge on one game, but he's not exactly stood out as a player we HAVE to go all out for, no matter what cost.

Isn't he just 21 though? Still really young and quite clear we are buying on his potential. If he explodes again this season he will be one of the top strikers in Europe. Look at how Lukaku was at 21 to how he is now.

He's going to be raw, but you either take a punt or we miss out on him and he moves to a super club. Atletico wanting him badly is a good sign.

This guy is not a Kane replacement. Kane is 28, he's seven years behind in his development. And that shows. He does have the potential, but we'd need to be patient and I'm not sure the premier league (and Spurs) is that forgiving?

I still like the look of him and think he has huge potential, but at the prices quoted recently, it's a huge gamble. Although if kane is to leave, I'm not really sure who else we go for other than Vlahovic.

The thing is, who can replace Kane? Chelsea signed Lukaku, there is only really Haaland out there but Spurs aren't a club that can sign top tier elite strikers in their prime. Atletico won the title and were going for Vlahovic. If he's good enough for them....

If we lose Kane we are going to see a massive step down in quality no matter who we sign.

That's the problem. Ings was really the only short term solution.

You dont see a difference in risk between a striker that for the first season at age 21 scores 15 goals + and a Striker that has had 24+ goals since you joined this site in 2014 ?
Yes, and that's why Kane is massively more expensive even though Dusan is 7 years younger. But I don't disagree with you - it will be a gamble for Fiorentina if he turns out to be a one season wonder.

I agree. I just think we need to be realistic that this isn't a "Kane replacement". I can see the logic in Martinez now, who is older and more proven. Other than that there's no one.

To be fair even without judging him off this game, I think the figures were starting to get into a ridiculous range. Even at the reported £50m a few weeks back it was looking like a risk, albeit a risk that we may have been willing to take. But that price has just been going up and up, to the point at which I wouldn't be surprised at all if it made us not consider him an option.

Lamela scored 15 goals in his last season in serie A before we made him our record signing. If we are going to spend more than £50m on a striker, i'd rather he produced for 2 seasons or has actually done it in the premier league. Anything more than £40m seems like a rip off for him.

I’d rather go for Toney at Brentford, as a player Kane can play with, and we can play him without Kane too. Also seems quite a strong character.

I would love Toney but Brentford won't sell him unless it's for £40m+

Our best bet is if they go down and we can pick him up next year. It will also be good to see how he gets on this season.

He's not going to replace Kane, nobody in the world can right now, but he would be the new striker and you'd hope other players in along with him can make up for the quality drop when Kane goes.
Still not gone elsewhere or signed a new contract even though so many people on here were acting like he had two weeks ago.

Wasn’t the price we’d hoped to get Vlahovic for, around £40million? I’m not sure Brentford could turn down an offer of over that sum.

Brentford aren’t selling their star striker one week before the window closes. He is their ticket to staying up. We’d have to overpay considerably.

To be honest, no one should be selling their star striker this late in the window. The only people stupid enough to be open to it, is us! And, he’s one of the best in the WORLD!
