I think that was always going to be the case to be honest.

At least the City game is somewhat of a free hit in which no-one has any expectations. I'd feel much worse if we dropped some easy points against someone like Newcastle or Norwich in the opening game due to the Kane shenanigans.
True. My only worry is we lose to City and then fail to beat Wolves, not the best confidence boost to start the season for Nuno and co.

First Ings and now Vlahovic. Whatever happens now, looks like it's Sonny up top for at least City and Wolves. Tough start to the season.

dont get your knickers in a twist, love. The spammers managed to do ok with just a crocked Antonio playing up front all season. I think we’ll cope for a couple of games

Sounds like that could set up for an 'if we sell Kane for big money we trigger the release clause' situation. As long as its not ridiculous money. As much as I wanted him with Kane it always felt unlikely given the fee. I think we would rather spend 40m+ on another centre back for the first team, then spend around 15m on a backup striker.

For fuck sake. Nobody is paying that much this summer so that clause has been put in for next summer if he explodes again - at which point he'll have better options than us. Knew we'd left it too late.

Yeah losing to Wolves would be a very bad sign - especially considering they have injury issues and are also a team in massive transition. You'd hope that by then we at least have Romero, Lo Celso/Ndombele and perhaps even Gil/Tomiyasu in or around the side. Even having Aurier at RB and Rodon at CB would be a boost.

We weren't to know that Kane would be a bellend and refuse to show up for training, so I'm willing to cut Paratici and Levy some slack for not prioritising a new/backup striker. I think Son is an able enough deputy against a team like Wolves and we should still have enough to beat them, although we'll probably get steamrollered by City.

I mean nothing is signed yet, if anything this news might kick us into gear.

We've got one senior striker and he's currently on strike in Florida.

I've absolutely no idea how getting a CF in hasn't been a top priority.

I’m astonished by it too. Our CBS may have been crap but we literally don’t have two strikers. It’s an area we are going to have to spend on regardless from the start so why not get it sorted

Exactly we lost Vinicius, Bale and for the moment Kane and replaced no one so far. We need another forward with a goal scoring touch, that is really essential in my eyes.

What are the club actually playing at?

We've not no strikers going into the new season. Son who isn't a striker playing with his back to goal is horrid.

Kane rarely turns up v city anyway.

We seemed to do OK without kane in these matches.

It doesn't actually say it is done though, let's wait and see.

Fiorentina have now agreed terms for a Dusan Vlahovic contract renewal and the deal is pending some terms with the Serbian’s agents.
Corriere Fiorentino have reported today that there is growing optimism at the Artemio Franchi regarding a renewal for the striker and they’ve got an agreement on a new five-year and Vlahovic will earn €3 million per season. On top of that, there will be a €70 million release clause in the deal too.
It’s now just a case of finding an agreement with his agents, when it comes to the bonuses or commission involved.
The report claims that there is peace at Fiorentina, despite Inter’s interest in Vlahovic. They consider the striker non-transferrable and even if there is any chance of him leaving this summer, Fiorentina have already planned Andrea Belotti as a replacement.
It has been stated that white smoke could come soon and while Tottenham remain interested in Vlahovic, Fiorentina are looking to silence these rumours by handing him a new deal.

Doesn't sound like we are signing him though. It's very quiet regarding any strikers now actually.
