So Bernard turned up in London saying 'I'm off to Ukraine... Unless you want to impress me?'

So we put him and his entourage in a hotel and gave them Madame Tussauds tickets...

Or am I reaching?

Well if he is/was in London for any prolonged period of time you would assume that if we had any interest in him we would have arranged some sort of meeting, through the proper channels of course, and maybe even show him around the ground. Hopefully, if he is in LDN, then there will be some new ITK on him coming out tonight/tomorrow.

Listen, i was told the other day that we are very much in the hunt still, although its very important to remember we have not increased our bid.

This trip to London?

well I didnt see this coming in truth

Or maybe while he's away from home and around here, he decided to pay a visit to a few countrymen at a certain London club. ;)

And no, not Luiz, Oscar and Ramirez..

Arrange for him to 'fly to Ukraine' and then just dump him in the Scottish Highlands for a few days before bringing him back. He'll know what's best then.

So you did hear something about a potential signing today, but it wasn't regarding Bernard?

Bernard is flying to Ukraine but has a connecting flight stopping off in London. He is clearly staying overnight or why else check into the Hilton hotel?

Clubs show players around their facillities all the time without first agreeing a fee with the parent club - if ITK is to believe we did this with Chadli and Benteke.

My optimism might be misguided but if Bernard and his family are in London it wouldn't be too outside the realms of probablity that his agent have alerted us and we have inviting him to check out Hotspur Way. If he is impressed then he can push to move to us rather than Ukraine.

You guys are naive if you don't believe things like this happen all the time. Remember Portsmouth accepting a lower bid from us for Crouch after Fulham had already bid a higher amount?

I don't see why we would bother meeting him. This will be similar to the Soldado deal in the sense that he will not go for less than his buy out clause. If we don't increase our bid we will not get him IMO. If we know we are not going to bother increasing our bid then why would we bother meeting him?

Of course we could be getting ready to up our offer

Mineiro are desperate to sell, and if Bernard doesn't really want to go Shakhtar then maybe we can force an agreement over a slightly lower fee on them.

This is the thing - Bernard has already said doesn't want to leave but AM are forcing him out as they need to sell. If he doesn't want Shaktar and we are the only other club bidding then surely AM will have to negotiate with us?
