Chiles (who is awful) and Dixon (who is decent) are always on so it's just really Scholes and Clingon. I can't imagine the latter is great but I didn't watch it last night. But the few times I have seen or read what Scholes has to say he's been pretty good.

I get your point and agree that ITV are as a rule a failure when it comes to football punditry but what do you expect? Ian Wright playing the buffoon? Lawro commenting on something irrelevant? Jamie Redknapp wearing a purple waistcoat? It's a football show as long as the quality of the analysis is good and interesting, then who cares?

People thought G Nev would be bad as he often came across as dull and had a bland Manchester accent but he is admittedly excellent.

Nothing is worse that Michael Owen on BT Sport.

That man could single handedly bring down Mardi Gras.

Jenus is the boy. Classy, articulate, punditry from the old Spurs boy.
I remember one world Cup when Ade was a pundit and he was truly shocking.

It's sadly become the same in the US, why they decided to ditch their homegrown commentary teams for a mixture of UK commentators coupled with an also-ran (like terribly insipid Warren Barton & Efan Ekoku) is entirely beyond be. I used to look forward to stuff like this from US Streams:

Now we just get some uninterested regional accent boring their way through games. Same as at home really.

I wonder if the keeper had a chance?

I know, if the male presenter isn't a dish it does put me right off.

There's dishy and then there's offensively ugly. And he's the latter, in my opinion.

I think he's a good pundit but I can see why the sound of his voice would bother people.

I think Scholes is a very good analyst but I prefer to read his punditry because of his dreadfully boring voice. And his boring looking hairstyle. Does he ever become animated in the studio?

I don't expect anything from ITV. If they can show a whole game without cutting to an advert during a goal it's a bonus.

Just to round things off, they had Andros's Dad, Andy, as co-commentator.

Actually, I'd have subbed Lee Dixon off and bought Michael Owen on...that would have been the Perfect Storm!

Nah, Michael Owen is the bottom dweller of football punditry.

Scholes was close to being animated last night...he was trying not to laugh at Citeh being 2 - 1 down, despite scoring a penalty against 10 men :)

I LOVE the commentators that we've got here in America doing PL/MLS/int'l games. Ian Darke is BY FAR the best football commentator, IMO. Also love Jon Champion(pretty sure he's a Spurs fan!) and Adrian Healey. Bein's guys are okay. Ray Hudson is as nuts as ever and its hilarious but unbearable. Phil schoen needs to learn its not a radio broadcast. Ian Joy is meh.

Pundits wise, bein is the same, NBCSN's are okay. ESPN FC is meeeeeeehhhhhhh. But I am in love with NBCSN's host, Rebecca Lowe. Oh my fucking god she is STUNNING!

Fox Sports needs to get its act in gear and pick some people up for the WC and CL/EL matches. Thankfully they took gus johnson off soccer coverage

But whenever i watch streams from england, the pundits are fucking terrible. Like holy crap. Most just bore me to tears. One of them put me to sleep once. Andros Townsend was boring in his pundit debuts.

Brad Friedel is surprisingly a very good pundit, IMO.
