More links with Eze today.
Probs just rumours but he’s a n.o10 isn’t he not a RW so really don’t see why we’d need him.

Really really top exciting player though but not really what we need imo.
Agree completely, he would be a complete luxury signing. I’m already sceptical if Ange will even play Gio and Maddison together as I suspect he will prefer a more B2B in that role, after all he’s been playing Sarr and Skipp there. If we got Eze that would be 3 top quality players rotating for one position. We also should not be bringing him in at the expense of Gio. I know that Eze can play LW but Solomon and Son are both best there.

If Eze was a RWF then I would be 100% behind getting him, would be an excellent buy but as it is it makes very little sense to me. Anyway I don’t see CP selling at all regardless what CAA Base do.

Only way I can see this happening is if we’re planning on playing him at LW and playing Sonny through the middle.

But as others have said, we’re much better off buying a top class winger.

I can see Levy panicking and needing a ‘marquee’ signing with the Kane money though.

Olise makes more sense than Eze

I really don't think Son is going to be successful as a LW for Ange, and so from a squad-building perspective I think Eze could actually be a perfect signing.

So we bring in Eze primarily to play left wing (which I believe he is perfectly suited for, quite similar stylistically to Jota actually). On the LW we'd then have Eze, Solomon and Perisic, who are all perfect for the role, but also Son if needed.
But Eze would also be perfect cover for both of the '8' roles so this combined with Lo Celso's resurgence would save us from having to invest £50m+ on a player like Gallagher for the role and further bloat the squad.

Son then we convert to playing as a striker, which myself and many others think he is actually far more suited to than he is playing as a winger in Ange's system.
Son's main strengths now are his elite finishing off of either leg and his willingness to run in behind and stretch defence's. This is exactly what Ange want's from his strikers.
Unfortunately the day's of Son skinning players on the wings in 1v1's seems to be over, he is not good at receiving the ball to feet and is not great at working short interplays in triangles. These are all the most crucial traits of an Ange winger.

So by buying Eze and converting Son to striker, we save ourselves having to buy an elite striker and also a rotational '8'.
This then would leave us with plenty money to be able to buy Orban and loan him back out, buy an elite CB like Antonio Silva, and I would hope enough to buy a top RW to compete with Kulusevski.

Well, you make a compelling argument for this transfer to happen

It just makes so much sense to me.

Would I rather spend basically the entire Kane funds on Ansu Fati and Gallagher or spend around half of that on Eze and have a better player for both positions?

I don’t know exactly how Eze fits into the squad, but at least he’s obviously the level of quality we need while a lot of other links are bets on long-term potential that may or may not pan out.

It will be galling to see us pay £50M for a player were were heavily linked with before he went to Palace for circa £17m. Yet another example of Levy missing out on the boat. I think it was Poch that said that sometimes you need to take a chance. Could have had Grealish for £25m, but his insistence at trying to stitch up the other club on the fee, meant we missed out and 18 months later he goes for £100m. We were looking at Maddison before he left Norwich and Leics ended up paying £20m whereas Levy wouldn't give more than £17m. Now we've had to pay £40M.

Lots of inaccuracy in that John. Sorry. A lot of that simply isn't the case.

I do agree if we paid £50m for Eze that would be a crying shame, but it's hardly unheard of in the football world - it would be good for us to return to investing in youth when they're young (Udogie, Sarr, Philips, Veliz will hopefully prove great examples of that).

Congratulations, you got everything wrong.

Jose turned Eze down.
Grealish signed for City 3 years later
Madison wanted to play regularly so wasn't keen and Poch wasn't keen.

Love all this but doubt we’d buy, Eze, Obran a CB AND a RW, if so then 1000% like your plan, but I think we’d forgo the RW and see Solomon as cover there and have Eze and Perisic + Gil when he’s back as our LW options.

We shall see.
