Goalkeepers: Ben Foster, Joe Hart, Alex McCarthy; Defenders Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Phil Jagielka, Glen Johnson, Phil Jones, Joleon Lescott, Kyle Walker; Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott; Forwards: Andy Carroll, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck

Not sure if anybody cares about this but was looking at the midfielders and its pretty barren in terms of creativity.

Brazil aren't great at the moment but they will stuff us. Would give Ireland a good chance as well.

Is this possibly the worst England squad in recent years?

Is Fraser Forster injured? Would like to see him get rewarded for some good league and European performances. Also, how many 'uncharacteristic mistakes' does Joe Hart have to make before it becomes a mistake?

That England squad is meh. I imagine come the world cup next year the world will be disappointed to find we've qualified for it as we'll have no choice but to play that turgid rubbish we usually play in order to keep the score respectable.

So many players being picked based on reputation and who their club is alone. Lescott, Cleverley, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain all done the square root of fuck all lately. Has Cleverley been injured lately? He's played 91 minutes of league football since mid February.

I would totally fucking agree. Lescott doesnt play for city and JONES ISNT A CB YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now Jones did fuck all for a year and has come back and done resonably well lately as a rb and DM and all of sudden he is the next England Captain:rolleyes:. I wouldnt mind his selection if there wasn't 2 RB's or if they didnt take only 2 CB's who have been playing well FFS!

There definitely seems to be a case of 'once you're in, you're in' with some players. I thought friendlies were supposed to be opportunities to try out new players and formations, rather than just give the usual shite another cap.

We look shite.

Feeling the new players coming through a la Barkley, Carroll and Wilshere are actually giving me a bit of hope that I will enjoy England's style of play one day in the future. Our upcoming strike force leaves a lot to be desired though.

To be fair that's been England's problem for over a decade now. How many England managers seemed to think they would be the one that could get Lampard and Gerrard to work together?

The thought of that defence going up against either Germany or Spain is horrifying.
