5 years ago we were ahead of Liverpool, and it wasn’t that close either. Since then Liverpool have won the Premier and the Champions League as we all painfully remember.

FSG dont operate the sugar daddy financially doped model of Abu Dhabi FC and Roman Abramovich FC. They only spend what they generate. The key difference is they are actually ambitious - they wanted to win big trophies and therefore will not, unlike us, go for the cheaper options - (Sane, VVD, etc and now Diaz). The other key difference is that they make fewer mistakes in the market when they do spend real money unlike us (Ndombele and GLC for example)

ENIC on the other hand dont want to win the big prizes because it costs too much - they just want to scrape top4, and even then by doing it on the cheap as this transfer window demonstrates.

It's oddly familiar how this transfer window feels even though paratici is doing the negotiations. I'm not saying this is 100% down to levy, but it does have all his hallmarks. Who knows ??‍♂️

I reckon the outrage is perfectly reasonable except the part when it becomes literal abuse fest.

I know there has been news of summer being more important but that wasn't how the window started. There were news of Levy meeting Joe Lewis and agreeing that we need 3 incomings. We even had repeated confirmations that Conte WILL be backed this window. And now suddenly in the last week of the window, are we expected to just accept Conte never wanted Adama, Summer was more important anyway, Winter window is hard etc ?

Add to this the extreme lack of coherence in how Paratici operates. Just same as how he went about hiring the manager last summer. Ten Haag, Conte, Poch, then suddenly Fonseca, Gattuso, Nuno even Conceicao ? Why exactly were we going for Diaz ? Did Conte want Diaz over Adama ? Did Conte really not rate Adama ? If yes, why did we waste 20 odd days negotiating for him ? Are there better RWB options in the pipeline right now ? Are we gonna get the deadwood like Ndombele and Lo Celso out ? There is no answer and no sign of a strategy from the club.

Missing out on Diaz is blow and we're all feeling gutted. But it doesn't mean a lot. It doesn't characterise anything about Enic's stewardship.

Diaz has clearly been top of Liverpool's target list for some time and part of their succession plan. So we were never going to pull off a deal to get him without them swooping in. And, of course, Diaz would choose them.

If Paratici is doing his job, he will have plenty of other irons in the fire. No need to panic (yet).
So why would we even bid for him?

Tried to save pennies. Lost pounds. Millions of it.

It's been asked many times by people who back the owners, people who don't like the owners have even said it.

'Why would they hire Conte and not back him?'

As things stand they will have failed to back him, you can pull apart each deal or target and justify it all you like but the fact is unless something changes in four days, we will have failed to back the best manager we could hope to have.

Lack of plan, lack of ambition but plenty of excuses.

There are four days left so there is still time but I find it hard to believe any last minute activity will be Conte's top targets.

This is what I thought - Levy is not dumb, though he has done many dumb things. If you make promises to any manager, particularly one as highly rated and volatile as Conte, and then dont keep those promises he will walk and he will not do so quietly. He will make the whole world aware of what promises were broken, and the fans will not blame Conte for walking but Levy for effectively giving him little choice.

Everyone in the game knew this, so I had thought Levy knew it too.

Eriksen would be an upgrade to our squad. A guy we sold , developed a heart condition , who's going to Brentford. If we need a slap in the face as to how much Enic care about us and our team, it's right there.

I accept its hard to back Conte in winter window. But in the process we have basically ostracised a minimum of 4 squad players who will either not take part in the season or half ass till summer. Namely, Ndombele, Dele, Lo Celso and Doherty.

Terrifyingly I’m actually enjoying this international break. Apart from the odd bit of reading transfer bollocks it’s been lovely not thinking about Spurs or even football in general.

That’s not a good sign…

Paratici needs to realise he doesn't have the pull of Juventus anymore.

Still persuaded Conte to come. But true, our player transfer approach has costs us winning the league and our place in the Champions League. Hope I am wrong, but feel it is all done hill from here.

Yup. Especially the fact that we can't leave deals hanging and come back to them 3 weeks later.

Charging the highest priced tickets in world football and failing consistently on the football side is offensive. If they had any decency they would freeze the prices

I does look the worm is beginning to turn with regards fans happy to pay those ticket prices to watch the shit this team has produced ever since we have moved into the new stadium. Barley had over 60k attendance this season despite England being allowed to have stadiums at full capacity since start of season

I don't for a second think that Mr Levy believes that he cannot have a successful team in the new stadium competing. Not for one second. I disagree with many who question his ambition because I don't see it. What I do see is a problem with the plan.

We were never signing Diaz. Even if no other club came in we would never have signed him. Why do people fall for this every year. One person won't and he be gone fairly sharpish.
