I agree they backed with Gio and Tanguy, but that was 18 months too late. We all saw the squad go stale. Even Klopp and Pep keep adding each season to title winning teams.

Poch was at least partly responsible for the squad going stale. He refused any alternative to DeJong who only wanted to go to Barca for example. He wouldn't accept a DOF either who could devote all of his time to finding suitable players. He was given Ndombele at huge expense but he's turned out to be more like a player scouted on Youtube than one with proper due dilligence. Poch's problem was that he over-achieved year on year whilst operating on a shoestring and you just know how much Levy loved that. The World has changed since then though, and even getting regular top 4 in the EPL is going to be one hell of an
achievement for anybody, including Conte, and it's going to get tougher if Man Utd and Liverpool sell up.

If Levy spent half as much time focused on the Naming Rights issue as he does thinking he knows how to run the football side - we would have had a sponsor ages ago, and could actually afford some of the signings we need...

*I've moved my reply to this in the ENIC thread*

If you believe he's not seeking one then I believe you may need to give your head a little wobble.
For balance I would say from reading the tea leafs and his own words that he's quite possibly knocked back a number of offers because either he believes the number is way too low or the brand/person doesn't fit the image he wants to see associated with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; so either looking for a unicorn or playing brinkmanship and overplaying his hand, those type of scenarios I could well believe over he's not focussing on it; also that's what Kline was brought in for so not entirely fair to lump it on Levy.

If Levy and the board are flirting with Poch behind Conte then A) that's just very disappointing to hear and 2) they'd do well to remember the last time they went flirting and we ended up with Ramos!

I will say I think this is the first time they've been in a position where both manager and star player both hold more power and who you'd say both futures are intertwined, I could understand it making certain board members feel they need to reassert some dominance or some such action if they feel their ego's being stepped on.:unsure: (I could well believe there's a few precious types that sit on the board)

Part of me wonders if there's some sort of gamesmanship going on whereby he's trying to avoid Poch getting tied down to another management role in case Conte decides to walk, which isn't fair on Poch either.

As much as I dislike all of this (if the scuttlebutt is true) that the board keep interfering in football matters and Levy not being able to help himself again. There is one thing I'd understand them having the rats arse over and that would be players they signed or that were here since the summer having hardly featured, i.e Bissouma, Spence, Sarr, Gil, Skipp. (some were obviously for the future/gambles)
Getting burnt on a number of signings and not being able to shift them is another where I can kinda sorta understand the higher ups scratching their chins and making them nervous.

I agree with football management that some aren't ready and you can see it but if you're a board member looking at a spreadsheet or with agents blowing your ears off, you're certainly entitled to ask the questions; that's not to say you should have any say on the team sheet. I mean if they went out in January and signed some top quality they're going to be second guessing if they'll be getting time on the pitch!

In some instances I do still think we've been utterly shafted as a club by doing things sustainably only for a bunch of multi-billionaires turn up and buy up rival teams, so Levy certainly playing against a stacked deck for so many years. I can't help but have some sympathy to Levy on this front.
Hopefully ENIC decide to crack on and build something on the highroad etc and Levy goes back to managing the stadium and that stuff and leaves the football alone again.

I love Poch; I would one day love him back but right now this club needs Conte preferably for another 2-3 years, Poch has his own weakness' as a manager that he needs to address before coming back.

Levy is such a frustrating chairman as the stuff he's good at he's obviously very good at I think only a fool would deny that; unfortunately it doesn't seem anyone is there to tell him where he's not so good so it's almost as if he's being indulged by board members etc.

The latest, unsurprising, rumours about Levy's actions are why I've cancelled both family memberships and refused to attend a game/buy any merchandise since the move from WHL. Yes the money in itself won't mean anything to Levy/ENIC but it is the only action that carried out in large enough numbers will help persuade them to sell up.

Unfortunately I fear there aren't enough numbers to make a difference. Plenty of tourists/day trippers/corporates now who don't really care about the football team.

Sad times, but hopefully one day we will have new owners/direction.

You stopped going to Spurs because of unsubstantiated rumours?

Wow. How flaky is that?

Seems a bit odd to stop going since we were at WHL. I mean things were going well under Poch that last season at WHL. I can understand Wembley was a horrible trip but its still London. Also to stop buying merchandise etc from then. I can understand for those who stopped under Jose because the football changed to a far more negative one. Although a chunk of the Jose era was in empty stadium. But then the stadium is incredible so im not sure how anyone could not want to go there. That couple of years understand Jose/Nuno was a low point but only compared to recent times. The fact we were in Europe and got to a cup final in our lowest spell of the last decade shows how far we've actually come. Were you around in the 90s and 00s? Things were far worse back then.

*Virtue signal Klaxon*

So the fact that you stopped going to games after WHL, when we were actually doing pretty well, is all down to rumours that came out in the past couple of weeks on here (and so far, in here only)?

Am I misunderstanding something here?
We were riding the crest of a wave after WHL and things were looking good, yet you chose that moment to walk away?

Maximum exposure for good numbers with minimum on field success. ENIC OUT
Minimum on field success would be losing every game and being relegated would it not? It certainly wouldn't be qualifying for CL, Winning the group and sitting 4th in the Premier league.

They are basically reducing the capital of the company by cancelling close to £100M worth of shares. I presume this is related to the £150M injection in the summer where they created £150M worth of shares.

They also signed a solvency declaration to say the company was financially healthy

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • A capital reduction is the decrease of a company's shareholder equity.
  • Capital reductions are generally done through share cancellations, paid-back capital, or share repurchases (buybacks).
  • Companies do capital reductions for a variety of reasons, such as for increasing shareholder value or producing a more efficient capital structure.
  • Capital reductions must be performed according to the law and a company must undergo a series of steps to correctly do a capital reduction.

So does that turn a £150m injection into a £50m injection?

Maybe. But also means we might not need that injection after the financial results are in, or after a naming deal is closer, so do not read too much into it. In reality it is probably just ensuring the company's capital and share structure is optimal.
