What's that, units, thousands or millions ? I don't like being below the scum in anything. How the fuck has that happened?
Millions. And I don't see how it's surprising that succesful clubs are higher up this table? The average age of social media users now is early-mid 30s i.e. growing up when Arsenal were invincibles and Tottenham were bottom-half no-hopers. We've closed a lot of that gap, but we're not there yet in terms of commercials.

I answered Delboys post before I read yours. My apologies.

I know this is going to sound really dinosaur dumb, but not being involved with any of those platforms, I have no idea what 'bots' are.
Think of it as fake accounts that are automated to appear like real people.

Like the internet equivalent of animatronics, often with the intent of making something appear more active than it is, or something to fraudulently represent an opinion or interest.

Bots are basically Arsenal fans on twitter all yapping the same shit.

Seriously - you can quickly read a more detailed definition here:

After reading that, can you tell the difference between a twitter (or social media platform) bot and a typical gooner? I haven't been able to do so.

Tik Tok was No 1 downloaded app in states last year. Got to a billion users quicker than Instagram and Facebook. So it’s pretty remarkable we are the 3rd biggest club on the platform in world football.

Just watching a bit of YouTube transfer stuff it’s amazing the amount of quality players available either free or discounted 1 year/2 years. It’s getting to the point ( probably actually there ) where buying any player with 2+ years on a contract just feels like bad business. You also have situations like Rice where West Ham can now fend off buyers till it gets to last 2 years. If this trend continues it would mean prices across the board come down and those teams that are very reliant on transfer funding will start to suffer. If it means stadium revenue and commercial become more important leaves us in a great position.

Yeah that's what jumped out at me too. From a growth standpoint, this is good for a couple of reasons IMO.
  • TikTok's user base skews young - at least here in the states. Consistent with the experience of other social networks (FB/Twitter/IG), where the early adopters skew young, then the networks picks up increasingly older folks as it grows while their initial user base also ages over time.
  • This country-by-country breakdown of largest TikTok audiences show a ton of eyeballs in markets that the club seems to be prioritizing as growth areas - United States for one, but also SE Asia.
This is the basket you'd want to be outperforming most of our rivals in if the goal is developing a global audience/supporter base over the next decade. Obviously we need to deliver the on-field product to back it up.

I'd also be interested to know whether or not this is reflective of the consumption habits of the geo's we have already been targeting (glances at the Spurs Thailand/Spurs Indonesia Twitter handles), or whether we've got some strong admins on the social team (don't think I'm alone in noticing that they've upped their game in the past year or so).

I might be wrong but I think we got into tik tok very early. Yeah the Asia connection makes sense with Sonny. I remember when I tried it was loads Asian girls doing their silly dances. But as you say it’s very popular in the states. It seems to be the fastest growing platform right now.
