Commanding performance today - of course there will be silence among all of his detractors on here who want him gone asap
He was solid, but it's 1 performance against a bang average team. He does throw in these solid displays from time to time, they're just far too inconsistent to justify a starting spot for us if we want to go to the next level. I like Dier, met him a few times and he's a really sound lad, I'm happy to have him as a squad rotation, just think we should definitely look to upgrade in the Summer.

Same with Davies. As squad players, they’re sound and I’d imagine have great respect in the dressing room. I’m personally fine with both on the bench but if a good offer comes in, there should be no hesitation (presuming we’ve done our job and signed CBs…)

Of course it was he was up against a lump who's game relies on physicality. In general he's never had a problem with players like Antonio. It's the quick, and more importantly, mobile front lines where he turns into Mr Bean.

He could have been DMC for us and England for years but he insisted he was a CB and like Trix says, he gets in trouble with mobile players.

I personally like him but would pick and choose who he plays against. Any team with a big lump or that score from set pieces he should get on against.

I think it was the other way round? He insisted on being a DM, and ended up getting found out so was moved back to CB.

I think he basically was saying whichever position he wasn’t playing in was the one he was better at just to give an excuse for his poor form and buy him some time…..which has worked out pretty well for him personally!

I really like Eric. I think he has a lot to offer, suits certain games and is perfect to have as part of the squad and has a great attitude.

His injury a few seasons ago affected his mobility so that DM role he played wasn’t possible anymore. He’s done well to adapt his game.

Stating the obvious I know, but my issue with him is that he shouldn’t be starting every game for us. We must do better.

See also - Ben Davies.

He's put in plenty of great performances this season. Certainly had a better season that some, Son for example.

I hope we keep hold of him, even if he's not starting every game.

Good squad player but not good enough to be a regular starter in a club with top 4 ambitions - same with Davies and most of our defence.

So he will either get sold this summer or sign a new deal. Think its best for all he moves on but can't think of where? Maybe with Mourinho at Roma?

Watching Dier yesterday in the ground he looks like his confidence has gone. He's walking round like a Zombie at times, also the stadium has lost it with him. When he misplaces a pass the groans are louder and the chatter when he has the ball and doesn't pass it quick enough is brutal.

He wasn't bad yesterday, bit slow trying to charge into midfield and stop people turning but it feels very terminal. I hope the club doesn't kid themselves into believing he is the answer at CCB or CB if he puts together a run of error free games till the end of the season.

Personally think we'd be smart to offer him a new deal. He's not a future first team CB at Spurs but we have too many worse CBs at the club like Sanchez, Rodon and Tanganga that we need to prioritise selling over Dier.

Given Lenglet doesn't look like he's worth signing on a perm we're desperately going to need bodies at CB even if we do go out and spend big on a couple this summer who would be playing ahead of Dier.

He's clearly got some big holes in his game but he's also had a fair few decent spells over the past few seasons and doesn't fill me with dread when he's in the line-up. As a 4th/5th choice CB we could certainly do a lot worse and he's clearly a good character to have around the place.

Depends if Conte stays, if a new manager is to comes in and intends to play possession base attacking football like everyone are calling for then Dier would be worse than all of our backup CBs due to the high defense line required for the system so unless the club knows that’s not how we are going to play next season otherwise giving him a new deal now may not be the best idea.

Was immense yesterday. Proper shit how dead this thread is because you know if he dropped a clanger there’d be page after page of insults. Yes he was bad against Leicester (who wasn't) but he's been the centre of the defence for shutouts vs Chelsea, West Ham, Man City and Fulham in the last month.

Don’t even care. I love Eric Dier, Eric Dier loves me. Deserves far more respect because he’ll run through walls for the side. Always love it when he has a good game because he's one of us.

He has always been a purple patch player. When he is in one he is brilliant but when he isn't its horrific.

I just hope he can keep this patch going until the summer.

Isn't every player?

I hope he keeps it going until the summer and for the next ten years. Love him.
