think says more about our recruitment and players in that position that how he plays, Mourinho dropped him for a while but the alternative options were pretty bleakkind of funny that DIer is questioned often but has hardly ever been dropped in years especially from some of the top defensive minded managers.
Mistakes?I’d say Davies is more consistent. Diers problem is he’s that he makes to many mistakes.
He can be very good but he’s also way too error prone and not reliable enough to start for us if we want to kick on.Me - I do.
He's very good at the ccb role IMO. I'd go so far as to say he's made for it. He's a good passer with both feet, strong as an ox and has the mentality to cover for his cb partners. He is respected and viewed as a leader within the squad.
For balance, I'm sure he'd be awful as a cb in a back 4 where his lack of mobility would be exposed.
I know LOTS of very vociferous posters and fans don't like him but I'd point to the fact that not a single one of his past managers have tried to replace him. I am comforted by the fact that they know what they are talking about.
Some posters will cede that he CAN be ok, that he's very streaky and yet he is never replaced. Ever. If he's fit, he plays every game.
So, you may not like him, you may wish he was replaced, you may think that because there are many, noisy others who agree with you that you are right; but until you can explain why actual, world class managers, scouts and footballers disagree with you and have done over his entire career, you are a long way off dissuading me.
Dier has been shite at times this season but tonight is not on himTerrible. Hate how he strolls about all big chested but nothing to back it up. Tried a few through balls late but instead of putting weight and meaning behind he half arsed it likes a maestro and just lost possession
Where did Eric hurt you? Change the record mate he wasnt the problem tonight.without romero next him, looks v average
ok indulge mediocrity all you wantWhere did Eric hurt you? Change the record mate he wasnt the problem tonight.

It's obviously the coaches who are to blame, don't you read posts on SC?Our defence has been as bad as I can ever remember, under the tenure of two of the most successful defensive coaches ever to grace the game. Let that sink in Eric.
