I just want to say that I have no ill feeling toward Eric. I do know that he will not work in the high line and his time at Tottenham needs to end asap. Hope we can find him a move before the end of the window.

I thought it was his decision making more than any lack of pace.
He has a horrendous mix of attributes.
Lack of mobility/pace. (which leads to indecision and backing off when being attacked directly)
He is mesmerized by the ball (just last night Lewandowski ran past/off him and he was so focused on the ball that he didn't flinch, and if the Barca ;) player had spotted the run he would've been in very easily.
He then immediately tried to push up the defensive line and no one listened...
Seems to lack peripheral vision and has little to no awareness of what's going on around him, which is ultimately why he had to drop into defence. He was somewhat protected in a 3 man Central defence but just no in a 2.

I love the guy as a character but he will be an absolute passenger in Ange's system. His lack of mobility and pace were horribly exposed last night.

It makes sense to me if we sign a CB who can play right and left of the pair so Dier is relegated to 4th place (5th if Phillips starts showing his ability in training.)

No wonder we lost if we were playing Bayern and Barca at the same time!

He would potentially be saved if he counted as HG but the fact he doesn’t is the final mail in the coffin for me.

Pity as you say I like him, he just isn’t the right fit.

A logic move for him would be wolfs but feels like Dier just waiting for his contract to run down tbh... Says alot about players that lingers around in our club when the manager clearly has said we need new centerbacks. Looser mentality.

perfectly said, ange has said countless times he wants new cbs, yet Dier is happy to linger around, sums our club up, way to comfy for some sub par players

If Dier would change his mind about staying and fighting for a spot, do you think he'd have any suitors?

That has tickled me more than it should have.

He's been around for so long that he's probably on pretty decent wages - not sure we'd have any biters.

Best bet would be a club like Forest that sits deep and often plays with a back 5. Or Wolves if they are desperate to get cheap bodies in. Think Dier might prefer to stay for a year though and go on a free.

Good positioning and anticipation can, to some degree, negate lack of pace. Unfortunately, Dier doesn't have either. Should move him on if we can.

mind your word guys otherwise you would be accused of insulting Eric Dier :sneaky: let's give him a new 6-year contract since he is a nice guy (y)
Wah wah wah posters have been neg repping me.
I like Dier, but he doesn't suit our system and needs moving on. What I don't like is the vitriolic criticism of a player who always goes out and tries his best in a Spurs shirt.
The negative pack mentality on here happened with Dele, JJ and now Dier. You should have seen some posters circling in the match thread last night. Nothing positive to say but loved a good Dier pile on when it happened.

I can't understand why this player is still in the club. :(
Been in our club way to long, he is :poop: in my eyes.
Had been out for 5 years ago, if it was up to me... (y)

Must be a dream for a striker to play against, just run around him, he have clue what to do.
Runs around like a confused chicken with no head. :banghead:

Like someone said in yesterdays match thread, he’s got West Ham written all over him. No doubt he was effective once upon a time but he isn’t good enough and he’s not what this club needs any longer. Maybe pop him into the Championship. Do him the world of good.

Best for all concerned if he moves. He is a fish out of water in Postecoglou's setup and it's more than likely it's going to end up being a train wreck if he has to start games next season. Ange has been quite clear in the type of defenders he want's for his system and Dier is a million miles away from what he requires. Sanchez also needs to move but if we really had to keep one, in this system Sanchez is more a fit than Dier.

At times he was very good for us. Id go as far as saying when he was out we did miss him but he just needs to go. Surely he must be aware if that. Its public knowledge we are after another centre back so dier will clearly know that. Where does he honestly see himself playing especially as we are not in a European completion

I think him staying reflects badly on his own personal ambitions. Surely there is a club for him. He was in some england squads last season.

He has 12 months on his contract and there is zero talk on any extention unless I've missed it. Surely that is an indication to him that it's time to move on

He should want to leave and reestablish himself either for another PL side or a team abroad

If we sign another centre back which it seems we clearly will he might not even make the bench

I just hope I can't post in this thread soon because it means it's moved to the transfer section.

Look at maguire - a player also on decline. He is leaving a massive club to get regular game time. Granted there is a team after him but I fail to accept there isn't a team in the PL or in Europe not interested in him unless ofcourse Levy is squeezing yet another lemon with his transfer

There must be a club willing to spend 8-10m on him

going 1 nil down they really kicked off and in my opinion ruin the whole thread. So lets name and shame them and ask management to take action. I have insufficient privileges for just saying most ITK is crap yet these jokers consistently get away with it. I am going to start with ...
