Eric Dier...lol. Not sure there's a worse CB, with his level of experience amongst the top 7-8 teams. Such a dreadful player, he wouldn't even get into the Wolves, Palace or Brentford teams as a starter.

That pass out of play is so ridiculously infuriating. Time and time again he did it. How hard is it for a professional footballer to keep the ball in play.

He has taken some unfair criticism but he deserves every single bit after that game.

He is a car crash waiting to happen against Villa and City and we could well be on the receiving end up a pasting in both those games. villas pace against Dier is a scary thought.

Dier's natural extinct is to stand off players because he knows 9 times out of 10 he'll get turned if he pushes up and simply doesn't have the ability to defend on the front foot. Think that is a massive issue and disrupts the way we are looking to play. Our hand is forced somewhat at the moment but we can't carry defenders like that with the way we setup. I believe it disrupts our rhythm throughout the team as Ange will be working on patterns with the players and when you have players who can't play that way, this system goes to pot. A Liverpool fan I know said Klopp had similar issues early on where he had players who simply couldn't do what he wanted them to do and when they played, it could all be very messy.

From the very limited clips of Phillips I've seen, he looks much more capable of being able to defend on the front foot and nipping in front of the forward. No getting away from the fact he is very green and he'll be learning on the job but his natural capabilities seem more of a fit than Dier. I think one reason Ange might be hesitant to to throw him in just now is there is because he wouldn't have one of Romero or VDV next to him just to provide that reassurance.

Sad that he fell off the cliff that drastically.

Angry that his decline period still had so much significant playing time for us.

There is no point wasting minutes on Dier anymore, let's get Phillips or Dorrington some valuble minutes.

Davies was practically defending on his own out there.

This is pure revisionism based on stoppage time. Up until that point, he’d defended very well and kept it tidy.

He kept trying the same pass because it’s clear it’s what Ange wants him to do. We know his deficiencies though and that’s why, yes, his time will be up in the summer, but not sure he’s as deserving of all this scape-goating today (though I cba to watch replays of their goals)

He's garbage, have a look at the goals Barca scored against us in pre season, excactly the same rubbish.

He can't even move his body he's finished at the top level.

Controversial as it sounds I think I'd play Phillips and Dorrington until Romero's back.

Yep so so different to Romero & VDV, leads to us being back under pressure time and again.

The drop off from our 2 starters to Dier & Davies at CB is enormous at the level we are at. It’s like going from Champions League level CB’s to relegation prem teams or championship team level players.

But we all knew this was the case and we knew not getting that extra CB in summer would cost us dear and now it is.

Wolves got in behind him a fair bit the whole game Without punishing us and he’s just completely passive defending the penalty area. Flat tooted, ball watching, not good enough on the ball, we can’t keep on playing him.
