i think that will be his task... maybe also setting up the scout network

It will come as no surprise to you, that I'm cynical about this. I think Baldini does have a say but how much of a say I don't know, I think Sherwood is still the top man that Levy listens to.

Very interesting article and we took a much better approach to our business this summer. I think having Levy, Baldini and Villas-Boas selling our club has enabled us to get better players than we might have otherwise expected.

I don't believe the above sentence for one second though, Levy is still about getting value. I bet enquiries were made on the last day.

I think M. Oney enabled us to get better players than we might have otherwise expected.

i am sure young players are being targeted as we speak - we didnt build a top class modern training facility for nothing

I don't get the humble pie part, I'm happy to have Baldini here but I don't want him here just as a glorified negotiator, I want a DOF to find talented players at a cheap price. Levy can get players on his own if need be.
Not sure if I get your point here? What do you consider cheap in today's market.

We got 3 international players under 10m each in chadli, capoue and Vlad. To me that is cheap. Eriksen was a complete steal, although I understand his contract situation.

To me, baldini, with levy, did his job perfectly getting the quality we needed at the right price.

Levy has too much on his plate already and look at some of levy's errors like moutinho among others. No way we would have got the players we got this window without baldini and levy together.

You may be talking about bargains the likes of michu or even when we signed bale, but we needed quality this transfer window, not cheap gambles.

We can look at cheap gambles going forward but as with any gambles, they are a risk. I wouldn't call any of our signings a risk with their ages and prices paid, except maybe soldado. Although i don't think he was a risk with our needs and his record.

They are cheap, but they are not Baldini's suggestions as for Eriksen, that was pretty nailed on Sherwood suggestion.

LOL you're really going to make me defend Levy aren't you? Well he got Lloris, Verts, Sig, Dembele, Ade and Dempsey without the help of a DOF.

Doesn't bother me. A man that said this about Carroll two years ago:

The England youth coaches had Sherwood jumping out of his seat at the club's training ground when he mentioned Carroll's name as one to watch.
"They said 'Tom who?'," Sherwood said. "That's not right. They should be going out and watching games. But then you just have to look at the England Under 21s and see they have got three centre halves playing in midfield. They are powerful boys but you need a bit of both, a bit of a ballplayer. Carroll played against Stoke and they couldn't lay a glove on him."
You suspect - and hope for the sake of English football - it won't be long before Carroll's name rolls off the tongue.

Well it may be if he doesn't get a chance. Are you implying that Sherwood would make a good DOF?

Who knows? DOF can be many things. Do I think he would have the global contacts/reach/influence Baldini does? No but am I happy for him to be high up with regard to our youth policy? Absolutely.

I don't think a bad word has been said about Baldini but anyone at all, Levy on the other hand yeah and there's a couple of idiots on here who keep banging the anti Levy drum but you're always gonna get that.

It was not personal critic towards Baldini but many were upset that Levy decided to appoint an DoF...

I love what levy has done for this club, but don't you think the best thing for him was getting baldini to help with transfers?

To be fair I'm not quite sure what Eriksen is getting at. It went fast because transfer deadline was looming, its not like we signed him in July!

If anything I'm suprised he doesn't feel the opposite after seeing us try to sign Willian and only got in touch with him after.

That said, I'm delighted we did get him and I'm delighted he feels wanted!

Well he was right wasn't he, Carroll's name does role of the tongue, closely followed by "Unfortunate", "Injury-Prone", "Fat" & "Overpriced".

I think the Dippers had a large part in disrupting his progress. Even 'arry pulled out of signing him!

IMO he would be a far better player now had he stayed at Newcastle for a couple more seasons (not saying that he would still be there now)
