Do we know whether the points are similar to europa league coefficient points?
Yes. There's a small number of bonus points available in the Europa, but mostly it's just 2 for a win and 1 for a draw in all competitions. Consensus is that the Conference League is better for coefficient points given the weaker quality of opposition.

I think we should hire Harry Redknapp just to coach this cup competition.

We could even bring back some Spurs legends so he could tell them to 'runaraand a bit'.

It'd be great fun to watch the likes of VDV and Berbatov vs FC Middletovnowej.

Just an idea...:cautious:

If history is anything to go by, I can't see us taking this competition seriously.

we need this competition to boost our uefa coefficient.

starting from 2024, two teams with highest uefa coefficient but doesn’t yet qualify for champions league group stage, will be given a group stage place of champions league

tottenham or other “big 6” premier league team is likely one of the two teams benefit from this new arrangement, as most teams with better uefa coefficient would have qualify for champions league already through original slots.

uefa coefficient count last 5 years European cup performances, so even this conference league is better than just getting 0 points for 21/22.

also the ticket revenue and broadcast money will help.
They’ve actually changed this already due to backlash because some teams not qualifying through ‘merit’.

It’s now just going to be a straight qualification with probably an extra spot in the league.

I'm also against us going full strength in this tournament due to the insane amount of games players will have before the start of next season.

May 23rd- Season ends
May 24th - Players begin reporting to national teams
May 26th - EL Final
May 29th - CL Final
May 30th - Remaining players report to national teams
June 11th - July 11th - EUROS 2021
July 2nd or 5th - August 14th - PRE-SEASON
July 21st- August 7th - TOKYO OLYMPICS
August 14th - May 22nd 2022 - 2021/2022 EPL Season

Chances are we'll likely see the EPL start in late July 2022 as the World Cup 2022 is set to run from November 21st to December 18th 2022 - unless they plan on running the later part of the 2022 season into late July 2023/early August 2023 - which is another headache.

In summary, play the youth in the ECL. Firstly to give them experience and secondly to spare our 1st team players from any additional travelling and fatigue that will eventually lead to injuries.

How much of that applies to our squad though? We aren't involved in either the EL or CL final, about 10 Spurs players (2 of whom might not even be with us next season) have a realistic chance of making their national squads for the Euros and the age restrictions in the Olympics means it's probable only Son will go to Tokyo.

Sort of a no win situation. If we go out we are a laughing stock. If we win it, we will likely be a laughing stock.

Having said that. Should really be considered among the favourites to win it, so best do so.

That could happen, but for now it's just speculation. Given they'll want to sort TV rights etc in plenty of time I personally don't think they'll change what's been agreed after very lengthy negotiations.

Forget that it isn’t the most important competition in the world and win it, best way to actually start changing the piss poor mentality at the club.

There is no trophy on Earth we can turn our noses up at, because we win sod all. Yes, play the kids early on, yes use squad players, but when we get deeper in just play a team to make sure we win it.

This competition could actually do us a favour, if we have a lot of new players in over the summer, and get rid of a lot of deadwood. The games here could give some of those players a chance to get used to each other in a competitive environment.

There really is no downside to being in this that I can see.

For example if Zagreb or Roma etc win it, we’d just be wishing it was us lifting the trophy.

Euro's for sure will impact us and Olympics might involve a couple of our players and maybe affect some of players we try and buy. By and large, I'm showing the impact that these competitions will have on our pre-season preparations due to travelling and overall fatigue. I haven't even brought up the possibility of a new COVID strain further disrupting things.

Not only that, some of the names of the teams in the comp are absolutely amazing.

I’d be well up for playing Honka and Dinamo Batumi away.

It’s almost like every away game will be like an FA Cup away day at a lower league side.

And the opportunity for some of those players to come and marvel at our place would be quite a nice touch too. Never know, there might be some players in the comp that are worth scouting, too.

It’s all upside for me.
