So it's that time of the season where we learn who we'll be facing in Europe after tonights 2nd leg games in the first round. The draw will be on Friday morning in Monaco and presumably it'll be on SSN or Eurosport. Like last season there's 4 teams in a group, we play the other teams twice making 6 games in total. I'm pretty sure we'll be in the top seeds so as long as we don't play a completely rubbish team, like last season, we shouldn't find it too hard to go through.

Draw from Noon friday

This year we've gone straight in at the group stage. The cup winning teams from the top 6 leagues got this although we seem to have been given that privilege rather than Liverpool.

Also the group stage finishes a week earlier than before, the last few games were previously played on weeks when the CL games weren't on but this year all european games will be played in the same week, which is probably fairer domestically.

I am from Schwenningen, South Germany....around 100kms away from Stuttgart.

Always these expensive trips for a student like me. So I hope they one time come to me ;)
(Ironically, when Spurs played at Bern, I was in London)

I guess that's like around the corner then :)

Gladly I was at the game then, exactly behind the goal, remember Pavs goal like it was yesterday.

Im hoping they get Bern again, enough big stadium to easily get tickets. Luzern will most likely be sold out.

Hopefully our new manager will actually try and win this trophy.

I hope so. I don't mind so much if we don't win it but we should at least try. FFS we were so close under Jol and Boro got to the final. If the premier league is so good then we should prove it by winning the Europa league, I don't get the arrogant attitude that the EL doesn't count. If you want to win the CL then why not see if you can win the EL at least.

I actually can't wait for the Europa, I want to see a fringe & yoot team in the group stage like Harry did last season - we were unlucky not to progress with 10 points.

The latter stages and the EL turns into a hugely exciting competition, would love to be a part of it to be honest.

We weren't unlucky, we played a severely understrength team. For years I've felt that an weakened team should be played in the EL but Harry went too far. We've got a squad of 25 amazing players, we don't need to have half a team that most fans would go "who?" at. By all means play the likes of Harry kane, that'd be fantastic, but the kids should be gradually introduced along side the first team not thrown in and left to get on with it.

Unlucky in the sense that 10 points normally means you qualify.

I'd like us to win this too. A bit of silverware will go a long way to restoring some glory.

I really enjoyed watching the europa last season, Bilbao provided some great games. Like others have said, I hope we take this competition seriously this year, it is a trophy after all. If we have ambitions of playing in the champions league, the first team need to get all the experience they can, also will get them used to playing midweek games and then again at the weekend.

Love the European always, especially as I can get to them relatively cheap from here. Germany, France, Holland or Belgium please. Cracking away trips in Bremen, Milan, Madrid and Twente in CL. Hope we take it more seriously than last Europa League, embarrassed that I didn't get to any EL games last time!

IMO There's no better buzz in football than European away nights. I hope we get some interesting destinations this time round.

Just had a quick skim read of the results tonight and there been a few decent teams knocked out. CSKA Moscow, Apoel, Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar probably being the biggest teams.

There's 12 groups, we're the seventh highest ranked team on coefficients, so we'll comfortably make pot one.

Having a quick look at the teams qualified, our toughest possible group would be something like Athletic Bilbao, Lazio and Anzhi Makhachkala. Easiest would be something like Club Brugge, Sparta Prague and Molde.

We would have been fine if we had beaten or even taken a point from PAOK at home. The side we had that day* was hardly a team of unknowns, although a few were lacking match sharpness. It was probably the best team we put out in the group stage actually.

* Gomes
Corluka Gallas Bassong Rose
Lennon Livermore Modric Pienaar
Kane Defoe

Bale and Walker came on in the game as well. It should have been enough to get at least a draw.
