Ah , so that makes the organizers already corrupt, might as well stay with UEFA.
By your definition, we are already corrupt and have been since 1992. The Premier League was literally about siphoning power and revenue away from the smaller teams towards the Big Five, as it was at the time.

Oh this shit again.

We're already in the superleague. It would be catastrophically short-sighted to join this as an English club.

Let the Italians and Spanish do what they want. Stay well clear.

It's never that simple. I suspect the English teams will watch with interest from a distance, but will be prepared to move, if necessary.

Right now, PL is top of the European pyramid - in terms of money and prestige. But, given enough money, teams in a Super League will start attracting the best players in the world - and that would impact both foreign players coming to England, but also top English talents leaving England. When that happens - the revenue stream from domestic and foreign broadcast rights will start moving from PL to the Super League - and soon enough the PL will just be a feeder league to teams in the Super League.

So, the smart teams will want to keep an eye on developments - and then walk that narrow path - keeping faith with domestic leagues, while keeping options open for the more lucrative Super League.

Spot on basically. This is just a desperate move by Madrid and Barca because they are jealous of the PL and want to bring down the English dominance.

They always piss and moan. No bitching and whining from anyone else when Seria A or La Liga was dominant or had a preponderance of teams reaching semi finals and finals in Europe. They were just better, get better etc.

Seeing how the golf with LIV panned out and the DP and US Tours finally capitulating and Rahm going to the dark side for me it’s just a matter of time before something radical happens unfortunately.
You can see what’ll happen though, it’ll get expanded so much to incorporate Arab and US clubs, along with any other clubs that have mega rich owners, which will then lead to the oil money flooding into it to prop it up.
It’s a back door to a world league whereby the global rich can all have their slice of pie and make even more money.
I can see where you are coming from, but currently fifa seem to be bending over backwards to give the Saudis what they want. They’ve just been given the biggest prize of all, hosting the World Cup.

As far as football goes, they don’t need to upset the status quo to achieve their aims currently. They don’t need the money from a super league, they can attract top players without that money as they have their own money. Ditto Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

The game has been all about money for a long-time, but obviously a big part of that is protecting the product and the brand.

The Premier League changed the game forever but it was a much easier sell to fans than the proposed Super League.

But I do think sooner or later they will get their way with the Super League.

These clubs have global audiences now and most of their matches are televised. The connection between fans of an area following their local club has become less important because fans can watch all matches from anywhere in the world. You can legitimately be a loyal, invested Tottenham fan living anywhere from the US to China to South Africa.

And I suspect, eventually, especially for a younger fan, seeing Tottenham play domestic matches every week won’t matter as much to them as it does to most fans right now.

Of course having full stadiums and maximising match day revenue is important- and probably it’s one of the things that would make some clubs think twice about doing it right now. They would be afraid of alienating their domestic fanbase enough to seriously harm their matchday revenue. And also the product in general benefits from the buzz of full stadiums- half empty stadiums are bad look. But again, once fans get used to the idea, or a new breed of fan emerges, maybe this becomes less of a problem.

Personally I don’t like the idea at all but I think there’s a reason it keeps coming up that’s more than just Barca and Madrid wanting it. I think overall it reflects the direction of travel of the game, even if the concept remains very unpopular.

Detest the idea of a super league and always have done, But I can't emphasise enough how much I hate FIFA, and to a slightly lesser extent UEFA. I know FIFA don't run Euro club comps but they represent the current footballing establishment who are all corrupt scum. There's needs to be another way of running football so it's easy to see why a breakaway is appealing but it can be absolutely nothing like the last proposed system.
