If this is truly starting up in august as it has reported likely 2, that would mean the tv deals and all that would probably already been signed, wonder what the figures for that monster of a deal is and who got the rights or if they are going to do a streaming service on their website and keep it all inhouse and keep 100% of the money

Domestic away games a thing of the past and completely inaccessible then, from 19 domestic away games to just 5.

Getting tickets to them games will be as rare as rocking horse shit, they don’t even care about fans who attend matches anymore, those of us who stump up cash season after season, they don’t give a single fuck about any of us.

Tbh, relying on fans in stadiums seems to be a thing of the past.

I'm not just talking about Covid; the way the average fan consumes football nowadays is via a phone, or smart tv, or computer, etc.

Even the matches themselves are a tiny part of the footballing spectacle. Online forums (like this one), You Tube commentary, talking points, social media feeds, etc. It's all 24/7, whereas the 'game' is 90 minutes each week (or twice a week).

The powers that be understand this and they'll plan for their futures accordingly.

Laura Woods on the radio reckons that this will end up with the Premier League kicking the six renegade clubs out. Do we reckon that’s likely?

If they do I suspect it is highly likely the 6 clubs try and set up their own domestic league similar to the European one. Now that would be extra shit. The PL will have to be careful with their actions. Going to hard could push them into extinction. If a new league is set up with more money the rest of the clubs would jump ship, you can bet on that.

2022 I read somewhere, not this August.

The thing is even if the fans boycott the games there’s so much money in this they won’t even miss us
This is true mate they won't miss the gate receipt money but, and I'm sorry for going all corporate on it, the "brand" won't be the same without fans and the atmosphere that is generated.
Football fans from all over world want to be apart of that atmosphere that they see and hear on TV, that is generated by passionate fans. If they are no longer there then the singing goes, the limbs go etc that any football ads on sky, bt etc show when promoting a game all that goes and that hurts the brand which will ultimately hurt the finances as the market that the super League 20 are chasing will lose interest and move on to something else.

This is a hugely dangerous model as they are focusing solely on football fans around the world who do not follow clubs but instead follow players so their loyalty is different and can be transferred to something else like NBA etc

Sometimes the smartest people in the room can be the dumbest and I genuinely believe they are killing the "brand" or "product" and that in 10 years time this will be proved right

Nonsense, the club wouldn’t have spent hundreds of millions on a shiny new stadium to fit more fans in if that were the case.

You'll still be able to attend PL matches, don't be put off by the demands from UEFA to throw these teams out the league, it's nonsense.

Its not necessarily nonsense. Presumably they are looking at ways of sanctioning the clubs, which not only includes expelling teams but penalising them. Giving a 20 point deduction each season and banning them from any other competition would keep them in the league but would heavily restrict them. Of course the teams might want to break away from the premier league entirely but they would have to come up with a strategy to do this, and that would be more than just a mid week league.

Whatever way you look at it we've just cut our chances of winning anything from unlikely to none.

If this happens what will be the point in playing in the Premier league? Barring winning it or avoiding relegation it’s pretty much meaningless! So if your not in the title race and not in a relegation battle then what’s the point in it! Just be playing meaningless games.

The stadium is still a cash cow, it just isn’t reliant on actual Tottenham Hotspur fans to generate that money. NHL games, gaming tournaments, gigs, rugby, boxing, corporate, it can do it all, and right on the spot where our football club used to stand.

I disagree with this.

People want to see the best players and the European Super League have investors to sort that out in the short to medium term.

Once they get the ball rolling and market the league in a way that these club chairmen are expert at, they'll lock in an audience that will want to watch the entertainment of the 'spectacle'. This will inturn ensure revenue to pay for the best players and the cycle continues.

Stadiums will still be full (you could charge a tenner a ticket), because it's key to the product, although the atmosphere in the ground might not be as good. But then again, most paying punters don't go to the stadium.

I could go into more detail, but I think you get the drift.

Just wonder where local councils and the police stand in all this , as far as I am aware PL games and other large sporting events , concerts etc can only go ahead with the consent of Police and councils. In Spurs case if Haringey Council refused that the High Rd could be closed for these midweek games then I think the council could limit the attendances on safety grounds.

I'm sure Levy and co have the paperwork already signed to challenge any decision to kick them out of the league and domestic cups.

I've been growing slowly disillusioned with things for a while now but this really would be the nail in the coffin.
I'm so tired of feeling like I'm supporting a business rather than a representation of the area I and my dad grew up (admittedly I was born and raised in Herts not Tottenham proper but still).
I chafed at the gentrification that was proposed as part of the stadium build. I was concerned with the season ticket pricing but this really would be greed. Shameless, bare faced, bald-headed greed.
I was never ENIC out, I thought they seemed relatively focused on long term sustainable growth. I am so firmly ENIC out with this decision. It's so against what makes the european football model special.
Even if it is just posturing to get the champion's league ruling changed I don't care, it's actively anti-competition from a club that's shown it really can't hack it when asked to be competitive.

How are we considered a 'super club' ffs?

Here's why:

VP-SPORT-GRAPHIC-TOP-TEN-MONEY-LEAGUE.jpg

Other PL fans can take the piss all they like but our revenue is DOUBLE that of teams like West Ham and Newcastle. Hence why we're in this Super league thingy. We're part of the financial elite. Money talks.
