Toffees entertain high-flying Spurs at Goodison Park
Tottenham go in search of their fourth consecutive Premier League success against Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Spurs have claimed nine points from a possible nine over the festive period with victories over Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham.
Everton, who drew 1-1 at White Hart Lane earlier this season, have drawn at Wigan and lost at Stoke since claiming a superb 2-1 win at Manchester City.
Rafael van der Vaart, who has been one of the signings of the season, cancelled out Leighton Baines' superb free-kick for Everton when the teams met in October.
The Toffees are not great on home soil in the Premier League against the Spurs having won only two of 18 meetings between the sides, although they have drawn the last three.
Everton news
Everton will be without key defender Phil Jagielka after he aggravated the thigh strain he sustained against Manchester City in the 2-0 defeat to Stoke.
Dutch stopper John Heitinga (knee) could replace him and line up alongside veteran French defender Sylvain Distin if he passes a fitness test.
Everton will be without leading scorer Tim Cahill as the Australia international has now linked up with his country for this month's Asian Cup in Qatar.
Winger Seamus Coleman is also doubtful for manager David Moyes after a blow to the ribs. Everton's boss must decide whether to stick with Louis Saha, who is yet to score in the league this term.
Spurs news
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has injury worries ahead of their trip up north with Alan Hutton and William Gallas both doubtful to play.
Hutton hobbled out of Spurs' 1-0 win over Fulham with a foot injury and was replaced by Vedran Corluka while Gallas finished the victory nursing a tight hamstring.
Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul remain suspended while back-up keeper Carlo Cudicini (shoulder), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Ledley King (groin), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) remain sidelined.
England international Peter Crouch could be given the nod up front after an ineffective display up front by Russian ace Roman Pavlyuchenko against the Cottagers.

Everton are without defender Phil Jagielka, who aggravated a thigh strain against Stoke on New Year's Day.
John Heitinga and Seamus Coleman face late fitness tests, but Tim Cahill has left to join the Australia squad at the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Tottenham have concerns over the fitness of defenders Alan Hutton and William Gallas after they picked up injuries against Fulham.
Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul are still unavailable due to suspension.

Everton have traditionally been labelled slow starters to a season, but this campaign is proving to be more pedestrian than most.
With just one victory in their last 10 matches, the Toffees are stuck in 13th place and are just three points clear of the relegation zone.
Midfielder Tim Cahill, one of the few players to emerge with credit this season, is now absent at the Asian Cup with Australia, denying manager David Moyes his top scorer and his side's only real goal threat so far. In fact, they have scored as many goals through their own net as they have managed to put past the opposition in their last three games.
In contrast, Harry Redknapp's Tottenham side are flying. Unbeaten in their last 11 matches, they have even managed to keep back-to-back clean sheets, thanks in part to the return of Michael Dawson to shore up their previously porous defence.
This match pits arguably the two form left-sided players in the league against each other. Leighton Baines has been outstanding for Everton this season and has buried the ghost of his World Cup snub, while the performances of Tottenham's Gareth Bale has seen his status upgraded to world class.
Two goals over the Christmas period lifted his tally for the season to 11. Few defenders have been able to shackle the Welsh winger, but the wily skills of Phil Neville neutralised his threat at White Hart Lane in October with a defensive display that turned him into a surprise hit on social networking side Twitter as fans lauded his performance.
