I have been pretty pro-Conte, but even I recognized that we needed a different approach - more aggressive until we had a lead.

So, I was pleased to see how we started the game - very much on the front foot and the aggressor. Yes, we faded in the first half, but then to come out and start the second half attacking, and getting the lead - how much easier it is to defend with the lead.

Certainly NLD will require a bit more caution, but I hope that we are more aggressive going forward, and I hope Levy backs the team with enough players so we can be aggressive and have options from the bench.

First 20 minutes we were good until Palace got on top. But for all their pressure they only troubled Hugo once first half really.

We score first and look great. We concede first and look shit. And we conceded first too many times. Once we got our first goal Gil and Doherty looked 10 times faster and stronger, Son was dribbling successfully, Kane never looked younger, Sarr even took a long shot attempt.

Think “brilliant” is a bit strong but it was a very good 3pts and good to see a faster start despite the drop off. Back him Levy. Whatever happens it will mean we have higher quality players across the pitch and the bench.

I guess even Conte is learning here, dealing with the pressure to deliver. He needs the confidence as much as the players to perform. I can only hope Levy wakes up tomorrow to give him more time, and money.
