If the likes of Winks and Davies are starting I can't see Conte being successful, we need better players than that at his disposal, I'll eat my hat if wrong on that. One credit I can give to Nuno hee was finally someone that dropped Winks completely from the set up, he is nowhere near good enough, even from the bench he offers nothing if you want to defend a lead or get back in a game. Davies just looks worse every time you see him, last match playing a guy onside by about a foot and waving his arms for offside, clueless.

Italian reports saying Kessie will be agreed for summer on a free. I would've pushed for Jan but then clocked he will be at AFCON so makes sense to get the free.
Because players are allowed to talk to clubs in different leagues with 6 months left on their deal, I think you need to get the player to agree a deal to join in summer then once that's set in stone you then approach the club and say, hey you're 100% losing him in the summer anyway, why don't you make some money off of it? That way you're covered no matter what imo.

I've been waiting for his appointment to be official before sharing my views.

I was one of the ones saying I thought Conte is not the right fit for us, but this doesn't stop me feeling very excited at his hiring. My concerns about him were never anything to do with his quality as a coach..

First of all, I didn't think he'd get past the interview stage. He's known for being demanding and is reported to be asking for a large backroom staff when he joins a club. I thought Levy would be against this and Conte would see that we're not an elite club and he would steer clear. He's respected as one of the top coaches in the world and I thought he would go to an elite club.

There's lots of talk about spending and giving him a war chest. This is all well and good. Our net spend over the last 3 years is £200m plus we're likely to spend another £40m on Romero plus possibly paying up for Gollini. So I hope we continue, not start, to spend in our "painful rebuild."

Where I worry about Conte is that even if we do put up the money, we're not a top destination. I read Dybala's contract ending in the summer. Even if we put up the money the likes of City could blow us out of the water if they wanted to. Is Conte going to be able to handle this?

Everytime we have tried a "next level manager" like Santini, Ramos and Jose it has failed. Pretty spectacularly and quickly too. I believe Jose was backed and failed. I also believe he's pretty much done as a manager now.

Conte though clearly has a future still and all the ambition and passion required to succeed. I think Conte is suited for managing the best and he has a good history of coaching players to be better. I believe there is a huge amount of talent in our squad and we might start to see the best from a few who have previously been struggling.

I have to believe that he was hired and took the job on the basis that he is clear with what he wants and this is going to be provided to him. What he wants is more than simply financial backing in the transfer market.

So yes, I have reservations but I know these are potentially easily remedied. At the moment the excitement is taking over.

The irony of it all it is, I seen people on here blaming levy for the Nuno appointment because he appointed Paratici, who pushed for him. But now won't give Levy credit for appointing Paratici, who was then able to lure Conte because of their previous relationship.

Someone make it make sense.
Other than the stadium I'm not really willing to give Levy credit for much to be honest, way to many f*** ups.

Antonio said: “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

Love that. Make us relevant, a force to be reckoned with and rid us off the softies and mentally-weak image please.

We deserve this. When I came out of the game on Saturday
it was the most toxic I can ever remember. Fast forward to
today and the feeling now could not be more different.

I’m absoultely buzzing. That 3-0 was the greatest glorious
defeat we have ever had. I can only like the
3-4 Inter bale hat trick game.

What a statement and about time!. COYS!.

Pleased we have at least tried to go big this time.

I still think it was my strongly worded email to Daniel pre-Nuno that had been lingering in his mind when he finally decided to get Conte ?

I’m just begging we back him and give him what he needs. It may mean offloading deadwood at reduced prices which will be a difficult pill for him to swallow but we need to make way and get players on wage bill that deserve it.

Winks I can't see getting into the team. Davies if they play 3 at the back and want a left footer there might get some games. But they will need to step up in terms of quality, but back 3 might suite Davies more than attacking up the wing!

Unless and until Winks stop passing backwards, shying away from responsibilities, he will never get into Conte's team. Even so I don't think Paratici will approve of Winks as well. He's definitely in his transfer list IMO.

Yep that's exactly what we did, I was gonna include that but I thought I'd leave the possibility of somebody saying this isn't football manager to only then roundhouse them with the Holtby deal. This is what separates me as a contributor on this forum, I'm already thinking about the arguments I'm getting into 2/3 posts ahead

Weren't you one of the one's defending Levy for not getting Conte being the right thing, can't be bothered to check you're reasoning but shouldn't be getting any credit from you ;)

Personally if getting Parataci and Conte is signalling real change in our ambitions and not just a panic button pressed where we then fall back into old habits and Conte and Levy fall out, then looks good, but let's wait and see how things pan out, after all the Anti-ENICers have always been told to be patient...

I’m going with my brother on Thursday and it’s his first trip to the stadium. I have to say on Saturday I was thinking ‘this will be fun, 20000 pissed off people hoping we eke out a 1-0 in a flat atmosphere’. Now I’m buzzing!!

Hercules seems to think it's the Lewis family that's all over Conte's appointment so I guess it all comes from above Levy.

I was thinking how it would sound if the stadium would sing his name under the tune Thunderstruck with AC/DC?

Conte na na na na na na na.......
