Sorry but if he would say that the situation is too difficult and run away, that would speak loads about his character and would be truly pathetic.
Don’t worry about that.

Worry about our 4th Manager in 4 years wanting to quit.

We all know the squad needs to change and I have not seen one person disagreeing or arguing against that BUT what can we do until the summer...

If we allowed Poch to rebuild when he said we needed it - the chances are we wouldnt be here a few years later further regressed. Thats on Levy I get it... but if we are now tryign to change things (and im only speculating) then that will take time - unfortunately that cant happen soon enough for Conte which makes him the right manager the wrong time.

I mentioned that he is one manager too soon - he doesnt want to rebuild - he wants to win... a rebuild wont take one summer, winning wont take one year.
THat's exactly it. We need someone, now, who can coach the players we've got, get performances that are more than the sum of their parts, and use the results of that to position us for buying the kind of top quality players that need a figurehead manager like Conte to handle them.

Waking up to see his quotes from last night.

I think everyone needs to stop taking his words at face value every single time. Media are going to lap this up though. Levy needs to have a word with him being such a loose cannon in these interviews.
Appointing Conte is a appointing a loose canon. Nothing can change that. Still worth the risk. He is elite. The squad is poor. Completely trust his experience and football knowledge to make the right decisions.

Exactly, it's better to skip the interview altogether, club gets a small fine.
Speak to levy by all means, but don't broadcast it to the fucking world.

He obviously hurting just like the fans, some of the players aren’t up to the level we are aiming for. One game we beat city the next we couldn’t beat eggs. Danny boy better watch what he is doing as I really think he will walk in the summer if we don’t properly back him
Will he be here till summer?

I think he could be the best thing to happen to us in a long time, if he stays and he is backed in the summer, but yesterday he reminded me of the Year 6’s I teach - stropping off when they lose a game in PE. Crazy bastard

Now I’ve seen the video of his words it is obvious he’s calling out the players. Watch for the little smirk when he says “maybe I’m not that good”. A mountain out of a molehill here with the over reaction to these quotes as usual. We need to not get sucked into the media hype on the back of them. Honestly, it really isn’t that bad after watching the interview.

We all love Conte and I’m no exception but we can’t be having this emotional rollercoaster after every poor result ,he’s the figurehead of the team and he needs to conduct himself a lot better after situations like last night.
He can’t be crowd surfing one minute then threatening to quit the next,we’re all devastated with the last 4/5 results ,can he not air his frustration ,angst away from the glare of the media?
Actually feels very suited to Spurs - probably why I’m chuffed he’s here. I love the erratic passion.

Complaining about performances and the squad is normal. Actually resigning and walking away is completely different and I don't think I've ever heard of manager walking away because the situation is too difficult for him. That is just murdering your own reputation, who the fuck would do that?

If he quits now then it says far more about him than it does about the club.

if he quits in the summer because we haven’t backed him then we might as well fold the club and turn the stadium into flats.

Nothing’s changed for me. I was very skeptical after the City game that we’d suddenly go on and qualify for the top four, let alone become the type of team, at least embryonically speaking, fighting consistently for the three points every game.

This isn’t down to Conte. It’s down to appalling recruitment: what’s the point of Emerson, or Gill, for example? One’s just awful and the other not even close to being Premier ready from a physical perspective. Then we’ve got the shit fest that is Doherty; a player so bad even he looks embarrassed to be here. We have the inconsistent mediocrity of Moura and Bergwijn, the fading powers of Ben Davies, the ghost of Rodon, the madness of King Davidson Sanchez and the absolute anodyne insipidness of Harry Winks. Let’s not forget Sessegnon, who still seems completely confused by what he’s supposed to be ( I mean this from both a footballing and philosophical perspective).

There’s just so much bland dysfunction in this squad that it’s no surprise even a world class coach like Conte is struggling.

It’s either we have the best transfer window of Enic’s long and frankly surreal transfer history this summer, or Conte walks. I have absolutely no faith in the club to get this right in such a short timeframe. They have amassed an impressive property portfolio in their time as owner of Tottenham Hotspur, but barring five or six seasons, the majority of the last twenty odd years under Enic have been largely like the current squad: flaccid and disappointing. If it wasn’t for the hilarity of some of the more surreal moments along the way, I’d be mind numbingly, emotionally dead. Instead, I’m drawn to the absurdity of how farcical we can become, I’m drawn to the notion that Levy is a managerial serial killer, ensnaring the hopes and ambitions of each generations’ best and bright coaches, then breaking them like a malignant child who never got picked to play in playground football teams, a prematurely balding mini Uncle Fester plotting his terrible revenge against the cool kids who never played with him.

And don’t be fooled by the seasonal bollocks the club will feed us about having a precise and strategic plan for transfers, for having a serious injection of cash, for promises to back Conte in any way possible, for lessons being learnt, for wanting incomings in early so Antonio gets a proper preseason in anticipation for a serious title challenge. None of this will happen, because it never does, despite us hearing the same messages every window.

I’m sorry if I’m sounding overly negative but we’ve all seen this film before, we’ve all sung the chorus of this terrible lament many times over. I’m not believing this time. Not until there’s a seismic change to our club, which doesn’t look likely for some time

I've sat here this morning and written then deleted a whole host of posts for this thread.

i still can't figure out how i'm feeling about Conte, the players, the club - ranges from anger, sadness, agreement with Conte.

i now find myself being really unfussed about all three, and that's really not good considering the excitement and pride we've had over the oast few years. how has the club got itself in such a mess?

onto Conte though, i appreciate he's a brilliant manager, i've loved having him here and i hope he stays - if he does it means he's getting what he wants. so far though, he's been underwhelming, so if that's as far as he takes us, the so be it.

just no clue where we go from from here though - what manager would come here given the obvious lack of funds and low quality squad?

It's not like the club has to wait till July to sign players anyway.
They could do so right now , especially the free agents

Really Impressive get , but ultimately likely the wrong manager for a low ambition mid table club

Believe me i have always wanted a manager that speak his mind, not the way Poch was to media with always beeing positive no matter what. But with these comments i am starting to lose some respect for Conte

This does NOTHING for Spurs as he can not change any more players until summer! What he needs to do is what everyone raved about, when they said conte was so god to change things up if things did not work.
then why oh why does he keep playing 3-4-3, please someone tell me why he keeps playing shit wingbacks and 2 in midfield`?

Change it up then! Put Bergwejin on the wingback, put 3 in the middle, do something else instead of whining like this only for media to really butcher you!

We are a average team with average players bar 2-3, Change the system until the summer!!!!!!!

We need changes at the club but what and where?

1) Owners

They own the club so they can’t be sacked. They will only sell if they receive the right price. There are not many individuals / groups that are willing to pay the (rumoured) price that the owners want. Even if they do get a buyer, it should be one that wants to see improvement on the pitch and to see us win more silverware. If it’s only for investment purposes then it’s just a case of rinse and repeat. So it’s pointless harping on getting new owners unless we get ambitious ones who are more concerned with the club being successful on the pitch.

2) Manager / Head Coach

We’ve already had a few top coaches in recent times but issues on the pitch have not improved. Conte is a proven top coach. Replacing him will not see improvements at the club in the long term.

What I would like to see is Conte using more players from the youth squads (as well as Rodon ) until the summer TW arrives. It’s pointless to keep playing underperforming players and expect improvements on our performances and results.

3) playing staff

it’s time to drop players that have more poor performances than good ones. We need to draw a line and tell them that if they don’t buckle up, they won’t even be in the match day squad. No player can perform well in every game and that is understandable but the players that have more poor games than good ones need to be dropped from match day squads.

The club also needs to show Conte that they are sincere about his project for next season (and beyond). They can do so by starting to negotiate with incoming players early so that they are available to the coach, when pre-season starts instead of waiting until transfer deadline day to get in the new players.

That said, there are still lots of games left to turn our season around. Top four / top six isn’t a lost cause yet until it’s mathematically impossible.

Let him go, this won't ever work. He wants new quality players and we don't have the funds for it. Incase you guys have all forgotten but we have a shiny new super expensive stadium that cost over a billion quid to build. Where is all this money coming from?

On top of it, he's frustrating because he's being impatient. Only one window has gone by and he has already thrown his toys out of the pram.

The football is dreary, his system doesn't suit the players and he never adapts his system. He wants shiny new toys and we can't afford them. Won't work, get rid.
