And it all started with my strongly worded email to Levy ?

love Antonio, he is obviously a driven, prickly character that demands a lot from all around him and keeps people on their toes. But we need this at the moment. There’ll be a time for stability but right now we need the drive forward.

Looking back at the first few pages makes you smile.

I still can't believe we got him in.

Last summer when it was rumoured we were talking to him it felt that it was something that wasn't going to happen, so I never really bought into it.

Then when we fired Nuno, it suddenly became the only possibility because of how much Levy needed it.

Even after he was announced I found myself double and triple checking because I just didn't see Levy going for it, even if he had to.

Which I realise contradicts itself.

But 7 months later and Levy must be feeling that it was absolutely the right call and FP can be trusted too.

To this day I don’t understand Man U not appointing him the week before we got him. Has to go down as the worst decision of the season. He was available, they dilly dallied and we stepped in. A crazy few days.

The only problem I can see with Conte and the team at the moment, is we have to wait until August (6th?) to see the next superb chapter in our new journey.. But it will absolutely be worth it.

Proper sliding doors moment that imo.

Nevermind any potential new players, I'm just excited to see how this team start the new season after a full pre-season training camp with Conte. They will be fit and firing.

56 points in 28 games overall for Conte's Spurs. Which is exactly 2 per game. At 2 p.p.g. we would have been above Chelsea on 76 points.

That's seriously impressive considering he changed our system mid season, had to effectively go through pre-season in mid-season, had a clearout in January and brought in only 2 players.

It felt like Conte was putting out fires for the first 2-3 months. I'd say the true reflection of his team was the last 14 games, the stats for which were 10-2-2 which is a PPG of 2.29 which is around 86 points over a full season, equal to our best under Poch.

With a strong transfer window I would fancy us to get close to that figure next season which would comfortably get us in top 4 and an outside shot at a title challenge (if both monster clubs have a wobble).

Which isn't implausible. They've been getting 90+ points for eons. City will be going for their third successive PL title, only Man Utd achieved that in the PL era and for good reason. The hunger inevitably drops. Obviously Haaland might well lift them back up to that tally, but he could also alter their style in a way that might not suit them off the bat (if it isn't broken don't fix it kind of theory).

And Liverpool I think might struggle a little next season, especially if they lose the CL final (which I hope they do because their manager is a prick).

Anyone got a copy of the Athletic article on Conte from late last ngiht that they'd like to drop in here... please...
Spoke about his disgust at coming in on day one and seeing a player eating nachos

Wasn't it a ketchup ban when Poch arrived - that the players had regressed to nachos and cheese dippers shows how far things had fallen ?
