my feeling is that Nuno was too scared to play 3atb because it’d perpetuate the ‘defensive’ impression most people have of him and his style, especially against the backdrop of everyone at this club crying out for front-foot attacking football.

And tbf his wolves 3atb was a defensive counter attack style anyway, so he was probably right to be apprehensive. Don’t think Conte’s 3atb is defensive though so I agree that it would seem a good fit for us and I’m excited to see it.
Yep, it was a big part of his undoing. He should have gone 3ATB as I was saying for months. There's no need for it to be defensive with attacking wing backs.
Look at Utd on Saturday. In ways I'm glad he didn't go 3ATB though as it might have saved his job. And I'm glad we have Conte now, and he will hopefully go 3ATB

Just can’t believe he is actually our Manager. What a coup for the club. Timing is everything in life and Levy has timed this perfectly IMO. One or two very big jobs are likely to be available before the turn of the year but we have him already. Brilliant!

Buzzing. If this man cant turn things around and get the best out of our players than no one can.
Nice run of games in the next weeks. Demolish Vitesse on thursday and then start raking in PL points

Our current squad isn't good enough so I hope people don't get too expectant for immediate results. I do however expect improvement during the season.
Long term however we need a substantial change in style, philosophy and financial backing. If this doesn't happen we will never become a top competitive team for sometime, if ever..

I think you’ll definitely get your wish in a change in style and philosophy with our new man. Bank on it. The extra inch podcast had a must hear interview with a very well versed inter fan that I highly recommend listening too to get how that will change. It’s the financial backing that’s the only real question right now for me. I trust though that Conte wouldn’t be here without it.

There is some trepidation not going to lie but intertwined with huge excitement.

The trepidation comes from whether we will be backing him... I know there are potential guarantees but let's be honest things change over time...

Just excited for this season now and really has given us fans the lift needed. Imagine the players and the lift this gives ours...

So after reading this thread off an on all day I've come to the conclusion that he will:
1. Weed out the wasters
2. Make everyone work harder than they have in their entire life
3. Buy at least half of Serie A in January
4. Win every game with a tactical masterclass
5. Reinvigorate Kane and turn him back into a goal machine

No pressure then . . . :cautious:

I’m excited that these players have a manager in his prime. No more hiding behind excuses and blaming the manager. Time to put your big boy pants on lads.

Anyone else fully expect him to say "we will make you proud"?

Not really, that was probably done after he walked past the training pitch. He had already signed the contract so couldn't run.

One of the best things about appointing Conte is that his pedigree is not in doubt. Pretty much every fan and pundit agrees he is the real deal. This means that he will have more patience from the fans to turn things around as if we still struggle it is clear the players are the issue. One of biggest hurdles Nuno faced was the need to hit the ground running, Conte has a lot more leeway.

We were a top competitive team 3 years ago!

There is clearly a need for some changes at the club, but poch proved that we could become a force to be reckoned with. All without going out and spending the earth on players.

Sustaining it requires money, but let's get back there first!

What's the news on the "option"? Is it Conte's or the clubs option?

Is it a year option or longer?

Appreciate 18 months is a long time in football, just curious, tis all.
