Just the fact that he has gone public with this tells us that there is'nt a consensus in the club.
I'm appalled by the performance tonight from which the only positive element is that it further underlines the lack of quality in the team, notably the players acquired in recent years.
We have bought poorly and are suffering from the impact of poor, often expensive, acquisitions. Levy has stated that and Conte has said it tonight in a admirably frank interview. Paratici and Conti are amongst the best in the world in their respective roles and have both bought in to Levy's argument and promises of support.. On the evidence of tonight there is a lot of both money and team management needed. Both the Director of Football and the Manager have a major task. They aware of it and will frequently remind us how difficult it will be.
Where does the lack of consensus come in ?

I rate and love the fact we have conte in charge . But why 9 changes when we needed to win?
He can't play the WBs again as they'd be exhausted for Burnley.

Winks and Hojbjerg need to reserve energy too.

It's sadly and frankly appalling that a coach can't make some changes out of fear of the team simply not performing.

He's inbetween a rock and a hard place.

Don't make any changes and you'd likely see a crap tired performance versus Burnley (more important game)

We don't have the depth to make subtle changes.

We have maybe 12-14 decent players, at a push, and the rest just aren’t up to it. What’s dawned on Conte is that lads like Dele, Doherty and even Winks, who were all useful when Conte was last in the Prem, just don’t have it anymore. We just can’t make 9 changes midweek away from home to anyone, be they Mura or Colchester or Zagreb or anyone; there’s no strength in depth at all. (We don’t even have a reserve striker ffs.) 4 away games in ECL and we’ve lost 3 and drawn 1. Huge rebuild needed. Back the manager! In the meantime, he should just worry about first eleven and 3 subs and say prayers for no more injuries to key players.

He didn’t realise we’d be quite as sh!t as they are. We are so incredibly weak it’s concerning. Even with a full ish strength team we limped past Leeds who had a bunch of untested young ones on the pitch and now this.

I remember the 90s and honestly this feels worse. Feeling I need a break from it all tbh.

I’ve seen enough. I’d like to apologise to Jose, Ryan Mason and Nuno.

Let Winks, Doherty, Alli, Davies, Sanchez go on free transfers if we have to, take anything above £10m for Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sessegnon, Rodon, Bergwijn and Gil. And stop playing Gollini so he doesn’t hit 20 appearances. Build around whatever the hell is left.
I wouldn't even object to the club terminating the contracts of these players if they would just accept the losses. They failed to perform and even commit as a professional, no respect should be shown to them. I know is not possible but I really hate them to be our players. They are a disgrace. Their presence only pollutes and stinks the squad out.

Wow!!! Just watched Contes post match press conference and to say he looked shell shocked would be an understatement. He kept saying he wasn’t scared but it’s obvious he’s suddenly realised what a monumental task he has on his hands. If Levy wants to get Tottenham back dining at the top table he better be willing to give Conte what he wants at least in the next two windows or we will sink like the Titanic.

Paratici and Hitchen definitely have first hand knowledge on how shit and limited the players are from being seated at the dugout watching our matches. Really appreciate that. I can only pray they are working OT these two months to shift the deadwood and make those transfers in ASAP.

There have been too much player power in our squad, Levy has gotta bite the bullet, release the purse strings and trust the two directors of football with Conte to make the changes with firm authority. Get those monkeying players see the back of the club once and for all and have the stayers respect the setup.

If Conte walks as he isn’t backed I have no idea where we go as a football club under ENIC and Daniel Levy. I know we have been told by ITKs that things have changed and he will be backed. However how many times have we heard that before. Its hard to have any confidence that things will change actions speak louder than words.

Most on here still blamed the Managers
Bingo

This is exactly what Jose said (However to many on here that was just evil Jose throwing players under the bus)
Jose was 100% right, Conte is 100% right, around half of our squad needs to be moved on over the next couple of windows.

It's shit or get off the pot now for Levy, this hoarding of deadwood cannot continue.
It's one thing Conte being 'impressed' with Levy's vision for the club, but that cannot be achieved with the squad we have, doesn't matter who you put in charge.

At least we saw more energy from the team but Conte has a huge job to sort this squad out. Goallini does not fill me with confidence and Bryan has yet to show me he has any end product. Once again Sessegon did little to show he should be a regular started. Hopefully will be able to work his magic on him as the season progresses.

Sanchez was again a big disappointed and I believe he will be one of the first to be moved on.

Absolutely. Nuno actually did ok with the hand he was dealt. In truth the performances under AC haven't been much , if any, better overall. I'm not saying that Nuno was the right man, he clearly wasn't, and AC is the only hope we've got of sorting this mess out but it's been about the deteriorating squad for a few seasons now exacerbated by some awful recruitment.
For sure - I think that the only good thing is that it's going to be much harder for the board to get away with not backing Conte than Nuno. Hopefully last night was almost irrelevant because Fabio and Levy should already be well aware of the shortcomings of the squad as a whole.

He's had precious little opportunity to see his squad perform. I wonder if he's in a rush to see which ones he wants rid of in January?

Mura Post Match Conte presser

Wow. He’s shell shocked.
It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive.

We have serious issues in the squad but there were issues with coaching too.

Mourinho's career is on a downwards trend and it wouldn't surprise me if he fails to last a season at Roma.

Nuno was thoroughly underwhelming as an appointment and sadly the players knew he was a glorified caretaker as much as we did.

Conte just gives them nowhere to hide anymore which is a very good thing.
Conte has been here 5 minutes and is the third Manager in the past 6 months.

Give it another 3 months and everyone will be saying he’s clueless if the team is still crap.

Get a fucking grip

There seems to be an assumption that Levy either backs Conte or he doesn’t like this is binary and not a word that can be interpreted differently.
Conte has felt like he has not been backed by the chairman at every club he has managed.
Arguably Levy probably feels he has backed every manager he has hired.
so I think it is reasonable to recognise that this could all go wrong.
Some people have a penchant for hyperbole and melodramatics but that doesn’t mean what they say doesn’t have substance.

Bang on mate.

Its a win win re those comments by Conte really.

What we need to do is aggressively ship out a large number of players and replace them with ones Conte wants and FAST. If that happens then results should come with Conte in charge.

IF it doesn't then Conte will walk, he has nothing to prove and we will all once and for all know that the buck stops with Levy. But tbh I think we will back him as well as we possibly can, the questions will be:
1) Can we find buyers for the crock of shit we need to shift and if so how quickly? (easier said than done)
2) How good is Paratici's recruitment. It was good overall but a tad hit and miss at times at Juve and so far for us its also been hit and miss. If by the end of next summer we have signed say 10 new players as in January+summer then we need minimum 50% of them to be Romero standard, ideally higher. If 50% or more are Gollini's and Gil's then Conte won't get a tune out of them and will walk and we will be utterly utterly fucked.

But I really think as Conte said when he joined, he and we need to be a bit patient.

At least Conte now clearly knows the players who are good enough and those who aren't.

For me realistically I would do the following if I was Conte/Paratici:

Goalkeepers:
Lloris - KEEP (try to extend contract for at least 1 more season, if not then buy 2 top class GK's)
Gollini – SELL - Don't take up option to purchase on evidence so far

Defenders:
Emerson - KEEP
Doherty - SELL!!

Romero - KEEP
Dier - KEEP (ok player and good attitude to have around but shouldn't be a starter)
Tanganga - KEEP (as homegrown future prospect to play in cup games)
Davies - KEEP (can do a job as LCB in the 3-4-3 but again shouldn't be a starter)

Sanchez - SELL
Rodon - SELL

Reguillion - KEEP (needs to improve however)
Sessengon - SELL (possibly a bit harsh as could still have potential but if we need quick success with Conte then wing-back positions are key and Sess hasn't shown enough so far)

Midfielders:
PEH - KEEP (for his attitude and as he's an ok player but not good enough to start every week)
Skipp - KEEP (for his attitude and as he's young, but not good enough for first XI)
Lo Celso - KEEP (I still think there is a player there...)
Sarr - KEEP (hopefully he turns out to be fairly close to being ready for first XI)

Dele - SELL
Ndombele - SELL
Winks - SELL

Son – KEEP
Gil - KEEP (young prospect but needs to improve as has been poor so far)
Lucas – KEEP (as squad player)

Bergwijn - SELL

Strikers:
Kane - KEEP
Scarlett - KEEP (loan out)

Sell : approx. 8 players over next 2 windows if possible or as close to this as we can.
Buy : approx. 10 players over next 2 windows if possible or as close to this as we can.

  • 1x GK
  • 1x top class RWB to challenge Emerson
  • 1x top class LWB to challenge Reguillion
  • 2x top class CB’s
  • 2x top class CM’s
  • 2x top class AM’s/WF’s
  • 1x Back-up striker
That may seem like a lot of in’s and out’s but in Conte’s first summer at Juve he signed 10 players under Paratici and I’m asking for this over 2 windows. They don’t have to even all be huge names big money signings just clever signings, top pro’s that Conte can trust and splash the cash in a few of the key positions.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/juv...506/plus/?saison_id=2011&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

This or something along these lines basically HAS to happen between now and start of next season for us to be competitive and for Conte to still want to be in charge.

Game on.

COYS.
And this is what concerns me, I think doing about a 3rd to half of that work and Levy would consider he has “backed” Conte.

My only concern is the short term contract to make this happen we need to act fast - so its over to you Daniel....

That's my worry, if Dannyboy don't pull it out the hat for AC i think he'll walk...hope i'm wrong.
