I'm sick of backfoot football.

I don't care who the manager is.
Exactly... I know Conte is a proven winner, however, his tactics seem like the antithesis to what was promised...

"....next Spurs head coach to reflect values of "free-flowing, attacking and entertaining" football."

Or that was pre-Paratici. But what is the direction now? Winning at all costs? Or what exactly?

Personally I have enjoyed a lot of our attacking play under Conte. We have scored some very slick free flowing goals under him. The second last night would certainly fall into that category. We just need to find a way to grab control of games more, which has been a major problem for us for over 2 years now. We will never completely dominate teams under him - such is his style - but he's also made it perfectly clear what happened last night is not what he is looking for either.

Abit sick of the lack of quality stuff , teams like saints and Brighton who will finish below us both play far better football

saints controlled that match , we don’t even move or dictate the game anymore

still very stand off ish , counter attack etc
We completely dominated Brighton recently in the FA Cup...

I just don't understand why we continue to allow ourselves to be dominated in midfield by being outnumbered there.

Every time we have played 3-5-2 this season we have played well yet we continue to persist with 3-4-3. Very strange. We do not have the quality of midfielder to play with 2 in the midfield.

My hope was that Conte was playing 343 purely down to the fact he didn’t trust Ndombele, Dele or Lo Celso, and that playing all of Skipp, Winks and Hojbjerg left us woefully short of cover, not to mention not being the optimal combination for his system.

Now we have Bentancur and Kulusevski, who can both play as part of a CM3, I hope that we will start seeing us moving to the 352.

Really hope on Sunday he starts Doherty & Bentancur, otherwise he only has himself to blame, for what potentially follows next.

You say that, and I honestly do see where you're coming from mate.

But we're not facing the same opponents on Sunday, so we can't be sure that those changes will make any difference.

That said, Bentancur showed he can make things happen, or at least drive forward with purpose. That's hopefully earned him a start on Sunday, and I couldn't give a damn whether it's at the expense of Hojbjerg or Winks. I'm still sulking because Skipp is seemingly still out.

Conte got it wrong last night, but we can't just assume a couple of changes in personnel is going to make the difference between a repeat of last night, or the unbeaten games that preceeded it.

I'd like to see Conte try a 3-5-2 - with Bentancur, Skipp, and Kulusevski as the most advanced midfielder.

Then Kane and Son up top.

I think Conte got it all wrong last night, we were being overrun in midfield, he should have taken off one of the front three and shored up the midfield, if we can see that, why can’t he, worries me, he will make the same mistake again…

Possibly but as for him worrying you that shouldn't be the case lol he's top5 world class manager, if you don't trust him you won't ever trust any manager we have.

Agreed that those two changes won’t guarantee anything, but imo we’ll have a better chance with those 2, compared to the competition available, in their respective positions.

I dont think we dominated Brighton. Not having a go at the performance but dont think we dominated.

We are clearly more about counter attacking. We are like Joses team but with more attacking structure - thats a good combination but i think its about balance. Yesterday was just simply not good. Chelscum we were beaten before we went out - very defeatist that was.

Conte will im sure take us there but need a big summer window - players in key positions arent good enough

But…. He’s Conte??
Im with you Matt. We’ve not lost a lot of games under Conte but we won’t get 4th spot. His game management in the away fixture when they went down to 10 for the whole second half was criminal. And although Moura had stuck a couple of stinkers of crosses in before he cracked that peach for son should not of been subbed off. Especially for a newbie that’s slower than me. We lost any threat. Conte might be one of the best managers in the world but if he can’t change his system to suit his squad players then we’re fucked.
We’re literally 4th right now with our games in hand and current points per game average.
