I know results haven’t been good recently and conte has rightly been pissed and I know it’s Leeds today who have been so open but I’ve really seen a lot of signs that the team and players are with time starting to get more and more used to the formation and patterns of play etc.

And if I and others can see that with more and more time and with 5 top signings in summer that would absolutely transform us then surely Conte can too, this + the Paratici link I just cannot see Conte leaving.

Sure he is emotional and hates losing etc but we beat city away and this performance today also shows the potential we have.

The issue is a few players in certain positions are too low in terms of quality and also our quality depth in some positions is very poor so when the likes of Dier, Romero, Bentancur and god forbid Kane are out, we struggle massively, but add 5 new top signings in summer and our first XI gets to when conte needs it but then so does our squad depth.

I don’t buy that we need 2-3 windows, I think January was a good start getting rid of 3-4 key players and bringing 2 top class ones in and then if we can get 5 in summer then with a full pre season we could be flying next season and far more consistent in terms of dominating games and results.

There were some positive signs yesterday of Conte’s system. I think the impact of not having Skipp at the moment is far bigger than we all feel. He and Bentacur are just on a different level work rate wise to Winks and Hojbjerg

Bentacur and Skipp are always moving, looking for space and ready to receive passes, much more so than PEH and Winks. We need them back to have any realistic hopes of top 4.

It's nice to see Romero starting to come forward and add a new dimension in attack. We haven't really seen much of him under Conte because of the injury. We see it at times from Davies on the left but Sanchez just doesn't offer much going forward. Romero didn't have much chance against City and prior to that was playing centre in place of Dier. We're now seeing what he could do from that right centre back position. This is a key element in a Conte system and why I think a better left centre back is important in the summer. Essentially another Romero level player on the opposite site. It's really interesting to see the process of Conte football coming together. Some of the pass and move football is great to watch as shown with our break against City that Kane almost scored from. You can also see from time to time the central midfielder pass the ball into Kane and immediately get forward for the return. It's slowly coming together.

Antonio Conte has made it clear that strategy rather than emotion was behind his comments this week that shook up Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian made headlines after Spurs' 1-0 defeat at Burnley when he declared to the media at Turf Moor that he needed to speak to the club about the future following what was the team's fourth loss in five games.

He also floated that idea that he would leave Tottenham if that was determined to be the best solution to solve the current malaise.

football.london reported the following morning that those around Conte believed his strong words were more of a challenge to his players as while he would not criticise publicly, he privately felt they had let him down with some of their performances.

On Monday, ahead of Spurs' FA Cup fifth round tie at Middlesbrough, Conte confirmed that it was not emotion driving his statements in midweek.

"I think that you have to understand when there is a strategy or not and not only an emotional moment," he said.

"It is not right to stay here and explain why I talk in a way and after three days I spoke in another way. Maybe though I can explain to you, every time we have a press conference there is a strategy behind it, not an emotional moment.

"I understood that was the right moment, after four defeats in five games and won the game against Manchester City three days ago, to send the right message, a clear message to myself, the club and also the players.

"We have to know we are here to enjoy football, at the same time to improve ourselves, to ask to ourselves for 100 per cent commitment and desire and also to underline that a team like Tottenham does not exist to lose four games in five.

"If someone understood that my words were from an emotional moment, no. In that moment I sent a specific message to the whole environment and it has happened in the past, when I want to push the situation and the environment in the same direction, because I am seeing we can do better, it is not because it is an emotional moment, it is because there is a strategy behind.

"But next time I don't [explain]! I think it was good that I explained the strategy during the press conference, I am not only an emotional moment, but sometimes you deserve our right consideration and not a simple or stupid consideration, but go sometimes deeper is sometimes interesting for you [the media]."

Conte also explained his living situation, with the 52-year-old living in an apartment suite within a hotel while his wife Elisabetta Muscarello and their daughter Vittoria remain in Italy.

"I remember very well in my first season at Chelsea, my family stayed in Italy and then came to England. My daughter she is 14-years-old and to again change the school every time and change the habit now she is starting to have friendships. I understand it," he said.

"I also have this responsibility with her. At the same time I know that my daughter loves England and loves London and it would be easy to bring her again in London."

The Tottenham fans have quickly taken to the 52-year-old former Inter Milan boss and sing his name in every match. It is something that he appeared genuinely touched by.

“First of all I want to say thanks to the fans because I think that I don’t deserve after only four months to have this, they chant for me," he said.

"For me this is incredible. I have only to say thanks because they chant my name and they give me a lot of boost every time, but I would like to repay their trust to improve their situation with the players for Tottenham for this club.

"For sure it is a great boost for me to see the fans despite only four months that I stay here, they chant my name and they love me. It is the same for me, I want to repay them for this effort they show me and my family."

Thanks for posting the article so I didn’t have to go on that advert ridden website!

Nice words about the fans in that. I think he’s telling the truth there and has been taken aback by us signing his name from the start.

Unfair to put PEH in the same bracket as Winks imo. Offers far more than him in both boxes.

I've gotta criticise the approach today. We aren't even pressing. Just comfortable sitting off in a 5-4-1 mid block against a championship side who we are qualitatively worse than us all over the pitch. Its not good enough having less than 50% against teams like this. We can't reliably break these low blocks down because we aren't pressing and hence cannot sustain pressure. City, Chelsea and Liverpool all press high and are able to sustain pressure against worst sides as a result. The fact that we don't means our ceiling is capped below these teams, regardless of signings.

It seems pretty clear the issue in our team is not Conte's set up, it is the midfield quality. In games where Hojbjerg and Winks play okay, or when we set up to simply bypass the midfield (like we did at the weekend and at City) we look so much better. But when those two play like they have today, we look league one at best because the opposite team just has full control of the middle of the park.

On top of defensive frailty, they are also incapable of passing forward. So often tonight Kulu, Son, Kane - and most of all Sessegnon - were making brilliant runs behind defenders and Hojbjerg/Winks just turned and played the safe ball to Dier or Romero. No wonder the attackers get tired and frustrated.

It's not Conte's fault that we just have no quality there, it's a problem that has built over years. And it's also not as simple as playing a 3 either. You could have 5 midfielders in there, but if they turn the ball over or get caught out as easily as they have tonight, the other team will always have control. Need a full overhaul in the middle ASAP.

Fuck him, out coached by a championship manager, sat back from the get go against a chanpsionship team, will throw his toys out the pram in the press conference blaming anyone but himself acting like he’s bigger than our club.

Nobody is bigger than club don’t want to be here? Fuck off.
