If we don't invest now I really don't see what our plan is, we've got a chance to re-establish ourselves as a top 3 team whose minimum target is qualifying for the CL every season rather than that being the ultimate end-goal. City and Liverpool are excellent teams but Chelsea have been regressing over the past few months and no longer have an owner that's willing to lose hundreds of millions in pursuit of trophies, Arsenal just over-achieved in a season in which they had no Europe and still finished below us and United finished on a points tally lower than we ever have since the infamous 2 points in 8 games season under Ramos.

He's not blathering plap. You can just look at where were are now and where we were when he came on. I think he's shown what he brings. It's not like some highly hyped manager arriving at ManU and making them worse. Since he came we're another level. Levy you're a smart fellow, just give him what he asks for, his January signings were not really rubbish were they?

It is a proper crossroads moment really.

Conte is of a level and of a certain drive to succeed, having already done so throughout his career, that he simply won’t accept anything less than a major attempt to at least give him personnel to compete properly with City and Liverpool. He knows we aren’t own by an oil country, and can’t blast 300m with just a snap of the fingers, but he will look at the how Liverpool have managed to match City, and will expect us to at least get him closer to those two clubs in quality and depth.

Liverpool had parts of a team and the correct manager. They identified 3-4 player to be the finishing touches and went and got their men.

I’d imagine that Conte will be expecting something similar this season. 3 absolute top quality guys of his and Fabio’s choosing even if it costs large fees, and also a group of other purchases to increase depth and replace departing players. Whether that be more experienced players on reduced fees or free, alongside promising players in the 20-23 year old range.

Levy is just going to have to open the coffers, if they are indeed there to be used. It’s time. Anything less and you can bet Conte will be looking around for the next challenge.

Having said all that, I believe Levy will do what we need. He’s not stupid. If the money is there it will be made available.

I know we keep hearing there's a 'plan' in place but I don't blame him.

Walk the walk etc.

Actions always speak louder than words.

Suspect he was a bit surprised at how bad ManU and Arsenal have been across the season but it’s very impressive to have gotten top 4 this season.

An interesting Summer ahead.

I am slightly concerned about PSG, but apart from them I just dont see where Conte would go to.

Lets face it, Conte has an ego and his ego will want to battle both Pep and Klopp and Tuchel but he also wants the tools to do that. That is what I think would drive him because I dont think he wants to go to any other league.

I owuld like Conte to sign say another two years onto the one year - a three year cycle would shut up the journalists and cement the future for a bit (I use cement loosely)

Levy has no excuse for not backing him. The stadium is now in place and earning, the fans are back after covid and we have champions league. You'd hope the stage is set for a stadium sponsor at this point, so its time to back the best manager we've had in my 44 years of supporting Spurs. If he won't do it now he'll never do it.

I think us fans are in a lucky position. Either Conte is backed by the club and we go on to great things, or Conte walks and then there can be no doubt that under Levy and ENIC, there is no real ambition to win things, it's simply to try and get CL whilst investing the bare minimum.

We will know either way this summer, there is no hiding place for Levy and the board.

There is no excuse.

I'd much prefer the first option thanks!

He’s obviously not going to commit to staying now, he’s at the height of his bargaining power. I remember we all complained in the Redknapp days when he said CL qualification was ‘as good as it gets’ for us. Conte wants more. Good for him, and good for us.

I reckon he stays. What's the fun in winning Ligue 1 with PSG? Sure if he won the champions league there that would be an achievement despite the money considering it's the one they crave, but if he won something major here that would cement his legacy as an elite manager. Anyone can win a league in Paris. It's nigh on impossible to win it with Spurs (or even an FA Cup or European trophy).

When does the transfer window open?
Think it’s usually 1st of July that signings are made ‘official’ as in the player physically joins the club, but there has never been anything stopping clubs signing players whenever they want. The windows are merely dates as to when the player can actually complete the move and train, play etc

Get our business done as early as possible please Levy, so we can have a professional preseason and hit the ground running.
It’s got very little to do with Levy. He’s just signing cheques. I might have a sweepstake on how many times @Trix will have to repeat this during the window. I’m going to give the ITK and transfer section a miss this summer. I can’t stomach the bed wetting that goes on when we haven’t signed half a dozen players in the first week.

Despite ITK saying how complex transfers are when millions are involved it won’t stop the bed wetting and vitriol thrown at Levy if we haven’t signed every player mentioned by ITK in the first week although he won’t be involved apparently.

And all the players who are out of contract this summer will be able to sit and wait until all offers are in. They hold all the cards and don’t have to take the first offer they get. But that won’t wash on here no doubt.

Had we signed Ndombele on July 1st he still would’ve turned out a flop, pre season or no pre season. We used the Bale money very quickly, even before his transfer was confirmed. Don’t recall that being a success either.

Bentacur and Kulu were signed in January. They’ve not had a pre season and haven’t turned out too bad.

I just hope Conte gets the players he wants whether they sign on the first or last day. It’s not the be all and end all when the players get signed. It’s about getting the right players.

Enjoy the summer.

We secure a champions league place and all our manager is interested in is winning something next year...... he is exactly what we have been missing all these years, don't you dare mess this up Daniel.
