I personally view Conte as several levels above Poch. I have to be honest and say that I’m really disliking how we are playing style wise this season, but if Conte can bring in the quality he wants then we are very well positioned for success imo
Yea that is probably fair to say that Conte is several levels above Poch although the job Poch did with us was pretty phenomenal I always felt he didn't quite have that winning mentality or tactical nous to get us over the line.

Agree the playing style at times this season hasn't been what we'd like to see but I'm confident that with some players back from injury, a revert to 3-4-3 and some signings in Jan that we can look more like we did at the end of last season under Conte where we played some perfectly nice football.

Conte is the best manager I have seen at Spurs in years, and I love Poch
Completely agree mate, he is the level and calibre of manager we've been waiting to hire for literally 20-30 years.

Hopefully we can agree an extension with him and continue to back him with what he needs/wants.

A couple of points that have been likely made before but I think people should keep in mind.

Regarding Conte. He plays the type of football that of course goes well 90% of the time and you feel like you have the ruthless machine in charge, but when it doesn't it's such a chore to watch and it makes people blow things out of proportion. I think deep down everyone knows we will be more than fine but it's an emotional business.

Speaking of emotion when Poch is mentioned it's understandable. Here is a guy who led us to great heights, we challenged for title, were champions League regulars, smashed Real Madrid! It's natural that people pine for happier days when things go wrong. I mean I know I'll always remember the pride and emotion in Pochs face when the lane closed.

It's not bad fandom just human emotion manifesting itself in a natural way.

I guess to summarise let's back Conte and remember it's a process and not knock other fans for still having this emotional connection with someone who was amazing for us.

People seem to ignore facts like playing CL football, on top of PL football, on top of a hectic pre-WC schedule, on top of several key injuries to a squad that is still a work in progress should still result in winning every single game. It isn't currently realistic to expect that until there has been more improvements to the squad.

It really is that simple to me.

its easier for opposing teams to beat us as they know how we play...on the counter everytime, so they set up to negate that , let's see how we do tomorrow, you can bet we'll be sitting on the edge of our box waiting for a breakaway
It's not how we played at Brighton or West Ham or at home to Everton. It depends if the opposition press us high up and we're happy if they do. If they drop off we play further forward. Some games have been end to end too like both games against Frankfurt.

I think Conte’s quotes on the quality of the squad, is down to years of not getting in our no1 targets. We struck gold with a few, but have missed out on so many. Eventually dragging the squad level down considerably.
De Ligt - Sanchez
Mane - Sissoko
De Jong - (don’t think we actually got anyone else then)
Dybala - Lo Celso (possibly?

to name just a handful. Really makes quite a difference to the overall quality. And now a lot of ground to make up. That’s not considering the players we have failed to move on.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

It's amazing how much more civilised this thread is outside of match day once people have had time to cool off (or maybe those who just want Conte out don't come on here except to vent).

I fully get why we get pissed off (myself very much included) about the lack of success but we have a manager who only knows successand at the first sign of trouble they want him gone. Is it any wonder we don't win things

That first sign of trouble is a run of 2 defeats which should put it all in to perspective.

So before I say this, just to be clear, I am happy to give Conté time as said before as long as we back him and bring in 3-4 top class additions ASAP to fix the problem areas (CM, ACM, WBs, RCB backup)

However I must admit though that with the manner of the last couple of performances it had already started to cross my mind that there might be some discontentment in the dressing room.

I haven't read the article but I trust the analysis by others that it was overblown etc.

However and this is my point, instead of being worried about the possibility of discontentment, I was actually relieved beacuse it provided an explanation for why we are suddenly so lethargic, can't string a few passes together and can't hit a barn door

I genuinely thought 'phew' because I thought that perhaps Conté was out of ideas like Mourinho and Nuno and we would huff and puff to mid table and then reluctantly yet again remove the manager after the season was sabotaged. This way, I thought, we might get rid of the moaners, sign better players and move on

Then I read that this was overblown and separately he now says he needs 3 more windows so I'm wondering what is it he needs from the players that they're not giving him that will take another 18 months of recruitment to even challenge.

He chose to bring in quite a few of these players and is persisting with others despite that are definitely underperforming and I just don't know why he can't get a song out of many of them. Unless what he teaches is complicated and he simply needs more intelligent players to get it

So win at home tonight to pretty much qualify. We can just dazzle them with our quick, intricate passing. What can possibly go wrong?
