It’s a shame this couldn’t have been dealt with a month ago, and not 5 days before the season resumes after a very long break. We’ve been here before. Brinkmanship is a normal part of contract negotiations.

Agreed. I simply dont buy the idea that there is "no money" when clearly we were willing to front up a large chunk of cash for a LCB and an AM but didn't get them for reasons beyond our control. 0% chance Levy and Paratici are just going to let Conte walk as that means Kane, Son and Richarlison..possibly Romero all wanting to leave alsoWe’ve been here before. What gibberish is this "tie Conte to Spurs for next season" ? If Conte is not happy he will walk regardless of what his contract says !Unless anyone can get behind the paywall (I can't), I speculate this article does not actually point to a 'breakdown'. The headline itself is a 'change in signals'. I listened to a podcast with Jack Pitt-Brooke this morning was recorded yesterday, and he was saying at that point that there will be a bit of game playing for Conte to get what he wants out of the deal, and we will hear stories of things going one way or the other, but overall there is no reason for fans to be concerned yet. Perhaps this is just a rewording of that concept?
Edit: Pitt-Brooke's own tweets seem to be tempering it

If you wanted to generate clicks this is how you’d do it.
Exactly. It's a nothing article. Just full of speculation.
Conte wouldn’t have wanted to deal with it a month ago. He likes to link his commitment to a club with evidence of investment in big players during transfer windows. It’s a shame this couldn’t have been dealt with a month ago, and not 5 days before the season resumes after a very long break.
or it could just be that the journo's have picked it up from here and put it into an article for clicks now the world cup is doneWell yes, other than we were told contract talks had broken down on this site a few weeks ago. So that news is now leaking from the club to journalists.

That is straight out of the Levy PR Book. What gibberish is this "tie Conte to Spurs for next season" ? If Conte is not happy he will walk regardless of what his contract says !
Is VL joe lewis' daughter? Has she actually taken over from JL?It's all very complicated right now and goes much deeper than just Conte v Levy. There is money available, not masses but enough to keep Conte happy, but how that money is spent is where the problem lies.
As of right now I wouldn't be surprised to see any of..........
Conte saying fuck it and walking.
Levy giving in and backing him under pressure from VL
Levy being replaced as far as dealing with the football side of things are concerned
What I don't see is them finding a compromise. Conte wants what he wants, and he certainly has VL's attention. What is unclear to everyone I've spoken to is what is VL's real time position in all of this, and what her end game actually is.
Yes Vivienne. Had fo Google who the VL wasIs VL joe lewis' daughter? Has she actually taken over from JL?
