Yet another manager is not a miracle-worker. The thing is, after we sacked Poch, we're trying to get A Proven Winner™ to bring us trophies.

Basically we want a manager to fix things we botched: recruitment and squad-building. This is what wins titles, not one genius that turns an average group of players into world-beaters who go on to win 38 games.

These things don't happen. Liverpool and Arsenal have mounted a title challenge because of their recruitment, not because they got a proven winner as a manager. Instead, they focused on getting someone WHO FITS.

Unless we'll build a proper squad - and yes, this means getting young players who will develop in 1-2 seasons time and start to carry the team then - we could changes coaches every game and it's not going to bring us any good.

Right now we're now seeing a third manager in a row that decides the best way for Tottenham to play football is with a low, passive block. The common denominator is a group of five players: Lloris, Dier, Davies, Kane and Son.

Here's where I think we've got ourselves into a similar situation what United experienced recently with Ronaldo and (to a lesser extent) with De Gea. Both are good players (just like Lloris, Kane and Son are), but they can't play an expansive, progressive brand of football.

Lloris is limited when it comes to his kicking, whereas Son likes to have plenty of space to attack. This means we need to play with a low block and rely on Lloris' shot-stopping skills and Son's pace. Kane, who's one of the best strikers in the history of this sport, is becoming a liability in pressing. If we want him to play all season, he's not going to be a pressing-monster.

As long as we keep playing Lloris, Kane and Son, we're going to play this brand of football, regardless of who comes after Conte.

That's why I think it's time for a rebuild. Even if we got Experienced, Quality Players™ this window, we're not going to win anything this campaign and with Lloris, Kane and Son being a year older next season, we're not going to win anything then.

Couldn't agree more. People are so attached to Kane, Son and Lloris to recognise they are a huge part of the problem.

What the fuck is this statement? He's admitting defeat?
I'd admit defeat under ENIC too.

Imagine you are a winner and you tell them what is required to win, only for them to tell you it's not possible.

We aren't fucking paupers, this club could back Conte the way he wants. they just don't want to.

My thoughts would be "Why the fuck am I here then?"

Jose, Poch.....listen to what the coaches have said over the years.

One person puts this club under such restrictions and kerbs any positive thoughts of ambition.

I'd be fucking exhausted dealing with that.

Yeh he’s saying 5th is the highest we can achieve unless he gets new players.

A clear ultimatum to the board IMO

Regardless of the manager the mentality of the players is shit. It's been that way under Jose, Conte and Poch. They go behind and they throw away points with individual errors time and time again.

The club has a choice now. Get Conte signed on by promising big signings and intent.

This, to me, is a decision that has to be made in the next day. If we are not going to back Conte, then let's part ways now. If we are going to commit to Conte - he has to sign a new deal. If he is not willing to make that commitment, then we need to move on.

Regardless of whether Conte stays or goes - it's borderline criminal we do not have a RWB already signed this month. Its a position in need of upgrade no matter the manager.

Pointless appointing conte really. He wants to win at all costs, immediately. At best we are a project club - he’s said that himself. Be safer going an appointing a manager who gets that. Poch as close as we came to making a project work. JM AC only interested in winning now. Never going to work here. We’ve one 1 trophy in 30 years.

Yep. Starting to admit it today.

Kane isn't a problem so much, I mean he doesnt press so much and you need that but if the guys around him are doing that, it's no issue.

But sonny isn't playing anywhere close to a good level and Lloris is only 5 saves away from an error.

And that's not form, it's typical

He is basically saying we don't have the the creative players to beat the man and we lack depth, and unless that is addressed, be contented to get at best 5th.

Did he actually say creative players? Part of the issue is that I don't think we're even looking for creative players.

We must be so easy to prepare for. Throwing Gil in to do his 343 when he clearly doesn’t rate him sums it up. Stubboness is costing us week after week.

We're at the stage where everyone's assuming Conte's going. Just like with Poch, where I assumed we wouldn't be that fucking stupid, the momentum is building...

I don't want him to go but it does feel inevitable at this point, I hold him in high regard and so I do have high expectations which currently he isn't meeting. What I will say is that I think the club can get away with saying that Jose was a bad fit, You can say Jose's abilities were waning but not Conte and more to the point not both of them. How can you justify 3 bad culture fits in a row, I don't think you can personally and so surely those above Conte need to ensure his success. They need to show it is not an infrastructure problem. I wouldn't be shocked if there's the Poch Hail Mary attempt but last chance saloon should be way before that. Conte not succeeding should be unfathomable given what has happened prior

Honestly if Arsenal win the league, as painful as that would be, when you consider the absolute furnace that would cause and the scrutiny our club would be under, it may benefit us in the long run because we wouldn't be able to hide behind any excuses of it being impossible to compete. It would as close as possible to being considered an objective fumble on us that they kicked on and we didn't by either the metric of where we were relative to them by the end of 17/18 (maybe 18/19) and the end of last season.
