It must be personal reasons, to go with the usual Levy bullshit. He’s had a hard year personally and being isolated from his family must be taking its toll.

In all seriousness, this was the next domino to fall wasn't it?

Danjuma is an obvious bargain bin, opportunistic buy that *looks* like it is a step forward. But it is really low risk and suitable to a variety of managers who may take the job next.

We won't pay the money for Porro because we don't know if he will fit the next manager's system. Everyone will stay and be re-evaluated in the summer with the new manager.

As Trix has been saying all along, the cycle will go on again. The sun rises, the sun sets, and Tottenham Hotspur is still the most embarrassing, out of place little one sitting in a kiddie chair at the big boys' table.

We need to back Conte!

I know his not perfect when he goes we are really in trouble!

Why should he commit? Our team needs rebuilding

We stopped signing good young players and letting them develop instead we brought players who were not good enough.

Since son our transfer record is shocking, it’s only due to Bents snd Kulu it’s started to look better.

We have signed 3 players since son maybe 4 who I can think of as good enough. Ofc some might come good like Gill ect.
I completely agree, I don’t believe we should have ever moved away from that model but the belief, at least I feel, is we ‘outgrew’ that approach. We suddenly found ourselves as a top 4+ team but with the status of a tier below team, so once we went for the bigger names they all say no or will choose bigger clubs before us .. that’s just the reality of the food chain! Even as fans our expectations of who we should sign suddenly left us scoffing at those type of players that has served us well.

What I take issue with, is when we have spent money that is also Levy’s fault that they are crap! Despite I garuntee 90% of fans on here demanding said player is signed & ‘just pay the money’ is banged out by fans ! Only for 6 months later same fan slagging off Levy for not getting rid of deadwood! You think a chairman wouldn’t love to rip up a 200k contract! Talksport did a whole section with fans ringing in on Ndembele being the game changer signing for us.. but cos he was useless the original poster thinks Levy should go as he didn’t do due diligence!!

Seems to me like the last year emotionally has taken its toll on him, his family aren’t with him and I really believe the “it’s put things into perspective” line

Couldn’t begrudge him at all wanting to be near his family and have some time out or even working back in Italy

What I do begrudge is that it gives ol bald nogin a wonderful little excuse that it wasn’t his fault
Yep, I also think if he felt he wasn't being backed, with no chance to be at all he'd just walk now, not be waiting till the end of the year. He's got no reason to stay if unhappy, or he feels like he's being screwed over, and not the kind of guy historically to put up with it. Whether he will be is very much to be seen, but I think he is still thinking he will be.

Though, a part of me thinks it might be a sign of respect to the club, that he made a personal commitment until the summer, and will see it out. Circumstances might change, but at the moment, his head and his heart are very much going home, but he's more than happy to put his heart and soul into it until then

If this is the case (which I believe it is) then they need to make it public and not let rumors run wild.

For all you know he's told the players he's done after this year because he's lost 3 friends (1 of them a coach who they were all very close to) and they all want to send him out on a high note. They could very well want to run through a brick wall for a man they respect and know is hurting, bc part of the pain was some of the same pain they felt too.

That said, it would benefit everyone involved if Conte or the club announced it now. Mutual statement saying he's not going to continue after this season because of the personal stuff that has gone on this season and his wanting to be back with his family, but that he is working towards getting us Top 4 and a trophy (CL or Cup) and the players are with him. Something like that.
Nice thoughtful post..

Personally I would let him go now he’s lost 3 people close to him and he’s living away from his own family, some things are more important than football.

If he is going which I think he is then I'd rather not sign Porro

If they HAVE to buy this month make it a top centre back who any manager would play otherwise keep the money there for the new manager and likely new DOF to continue this rebuild.

What the fuck is going on, and why wasn't this all worked out during the World Cup break?
Yeah, if he didn’t want to stay at that point, then it should have been the time to part ways then. I can’t blame the club for not wanting to back him if he won’t commit.

He probably still wants to attempt to win the trophies we are in however unlikely. He's a proud bloke.

I think we owe him the chance to finish the season even if he is going. Still hope he can get his family over and be happy here.

The last dance Spurs style. No one would begrudge him leaving if they were the reasons and everyone would be behind him if this was the case. Fans included if it was announced. Would probably bond the whole club together again. If you’re reading this Levy, this is how you save face ?

I think he's probably desperately trying to get his family to come over so does not want it out there.

If we look at the options, an interim solves nothing, and if Conte's had a heart to heart with the squad then it makes sense if they see it out and give it their all, hypothetical but plausible.

For reasons known behind closed doors for a few months now, I would be shocked if he signs a new contract.
If that’s the case then one would assume every player at the club knows as well and that’s hardly going to build confidence and unity. Kind of feels like what’s the point. Why not just have a sit down chat and come to an agreement on a mutual termination. At least that way we can get a new manager in and get a head start on next season. Sooner we get back to square one the better.
