ex Spurs XI around the Premier League

Gomes
Hutton Dawson Caulker Fryers
Sandro Huddlestone
Pienaar Sigurdsson Kranjcar
Crouch

Button Marney Palacios Livermore Routledge Etherington Bent

That's an ex-Spurs XI from the Premier League (well, I cheated with goalkeepers as Gomes and Button are in the championship). How to people think this side would do in the league, and how would they do in a match against us?

Edit: Button in for Begovic.

Mid/low table and that's why we got rid of them. We would win without any problem, that's a very slow and unimaginative side with weak defenders.

Defence is certainly weak. Unimaginative? You've seen our central midfied right? Sigurdsson has started this season superbly in terms of playmaking, while Kranjcar, for all his faults, is certainly more imaginative than any of our LWF options, and Huddlestone has more vision and passing in his left testicle than every single central midfielder at our club.

We didnt receive a fee for Begovic, levy paid for a double deal that never happened.

Also worth noting that Kightly is in the PL as well

Carrick?

If you are allowing Championship goal keepers you could have Button.

Going through that squad, the only ones I think we could do with now and wish we had kept are Pienaar and Huddlestone. Time will tell with Sandro.

Most of them were not good enough or served their purpose.

Caulker's progress seems to have stalled, but that might be only temporary (he is still young for a CH) and he hardly represents a downgrade on our current defensive options. He and Livermore would at least provide us with some heart and backbone.

Whenever I do these threads I use the players who we've let go rather than those who chose to leave. Poses more of a 'were we right to get rid' question.

I'm inclined to agree (though my gut tells me cutting Sandro loose was wrong) but I'd argue the case for Siggy. I was never a fan of his, but he never played as a number 10 for us. He has done so far for Swansea and so far looks every bit the playmaker we were willing him to be.

Was thinking along these lines after the weekend. Something in the vein of an "Ex-Yids Watch" in a similar vein to the Bale/AVB-Watch threads.

Siggurdson had a brilliant game at the weekend, and Routledge scored a pearler. Bad day for the Hull lads mind.

Who are you counting as from our academy? I count Crouch, Livermore, Marney and Caulker. Even at 4 its a good point we are producing some good professionals these days and its more a testament to the level we are operating at that they aren't staying at the club and are only good enough for 10th down.

*Edit* Just seen the multitude of posts above saying the same. Ethrington came from Peterborough with Davies, Fryers UTD (obvs), Hudds Derby, Routledge Palace

Thinking of Etherington as I thought he was younger when he came to us. My bad.
