It's definitely a good sign for our youth system that Livermore, Caulker, Kane, Townsend, Bentaleb and Carroll, all of whom are plying their trade in the premier league and all of whom are under 25, all came through our ranks. I'd say that every single one will have a career mainly in this league.

Would be interesting to see a true acadamy 11 that we have released

Best I can come up with:

Button (Brentford)

Kelly (Reading) Caulker (QPR) Butcher (Dundee Utd) Daniels (Bournemouth)

Marney (Burnley) Livermore (Hull) Jackson (Charlton)

M'Poku (Liege) Dawkins (Derby)

Pekhart (Ingolstadt).

Subs: Day (Stevenage), Smith (Bournemouth), Archibald-Henville (Carlisle), Kassim (Swindon), Yeates (Bradford), Byrne (Swindon), Maghoma (Sheff Wed).

Caulker is not deve
Caulker's progress seems to have stalled, but that might be only temporary (he is still young for a CH) and he hardly represents a downgrade on our current defensive options. He and Livermore would at least provide us with some heart and backbone.

I thought about it but I’m not sure to be honest yet. Plus there’s this nagging rumour that he was sold for non-footballing reasons isn’t there? That would make the argument that he is a good enough footballer moot. Livermore, for me, is just not good enough for where we want to be but is a decent premiership footballer.

I'm inclined to agree (though my gut tells me cutting Sandro loose was wrong) but I'd argue the case for Siggy. I was never a fan of his, but he never played as a number 10 for us. He has done so far for Swansea and so far looks every bit the playmaker we were willing him to be.

I don’t really agree regarding Sig. I am anxious not to make any knee jerk reactions based on three games. I accept that he was seldom played centrally but being played in a notionally wide position never prevented Modric or Eriksen from imposing themselves on the game. I think that Sig’s occasional purple patches of assists and goals can deceive people into thinking he’s better than he actually is.

The bottom line is that I would have Huddlestone in or around our team. I think he has a unique skill set which we could benefit from; and I think Pienaar is a vastly underrated player who could play as a LWF or more centrally, or perhaps further back.

To be fair we only picked Bentaleb up in 2012 after he was released from USL Dunkerque so he's not really through our academy like Kane and some others. Still a good sign for our development squad scouts.

Got to love a two word response with absolutely no reason, argument or any form of discursive process attached to it. You're my favourite kind of poster. Let's be bestest best buddy buddy friend friends :D :D :D
Did you forget about the first post I made? I already made my argument, you responded to it. Nothing you said disproves what I said it's just a different opinion and I think it's a bullshit opinion. Claiming that Kranjcar is more creative than any of our LWF options is just ridicoulous, he scored 3 goals and got 3 assists in 31 games in the Championship and made no impact in the Russian league (might be why they got rid of him?).

Huddlestone would still be at the club if he was a better midfielder than any of our current midfielders. He might be a better passer but that's a pointless attribute if you can't put yourself in positions where you can use that attribute, and that was a constant problem with Huddlestone, he isn't strong enough, he isn't mobile enough and he doesn't defend well.

Sure, Sigurdsson is a good player, some of the players in that team are, most of them are not. We would destroy that back four and midfield.

Didn't Gary Hooper come from our academy?
