Expectations?

So, with all the cash we have spent and the apparent steady ship we now have, what do you think we are aiming for this season?

I would say 4th spot at a minimum. I would also go so far as to say that for this season to be a success, we need to secure champs league AND win a trophy, based on the money spent. Spending money always has to be balanced by success for it to be truly justified - what would a successful season look like to you?

We have world class or very nearly world class in each department now - the spine of Lloris, Kaboul, Verts, Sandro, Paulinho and Soldado is up there with the best in the league. Add Bale if he stays, or Willian and Lamela to this and we're pushing for THE best.

If come March we're 5th and no sign of a trophy, the fickle media and fans may just try to unsteady our ship.

It's a BIG season for the club.

4th and a Trophy would be pretty rewarding.

Also not losing to the relegation fodder would be a nice change.

4th. It has to be 4th.

If we're flying then expectations can be scaled up. But we simply must finish 4th. Man Utd are still going to be there and Chelsea/City IMO will be the title contenders. We will have the 4th best squad.

League wise I'd like to as a minimum, finish fouth without ever looking like dropping out the top four. The team in 5th (Arse or Liverpool) never getting close enough to put any real pressue on us. It would be nice to have Champs League secured before the final game and maybe be within touching distance of 1st/2nd & 3rd going into the last few games. A cup would be a bonus - perhaps the Carling Cup as its the fewest games and is done and dusted well before the end of the season. COYS !

Top 4. Could be much much better than that though. Maybe even a cup or something. But top 4 must the target.

So yeah, expect top 4, hope for much more. I'm just so looking forward to seeing our squad step out if we sign Willian and Lamela. We'll be so strong in the middle and dynamic on the edges.

It will be interesting this season. Lets say Bale goes and we do tie up these remaining signings (Willian, Lamela, Coentrao, New CB), the squad on paper looks much stronger and so the pressure will be on us somewhat. Particularly because of the money spent and fees paid for certain players.

You would have to say that CL qualification is the bare minimum that would be expected after this outlay (again, at this point if we do all these deals). Don't get it, and AVB will be under a bit of pressure I would imagine.

I think we probably have as good a squad as United, but inferior to Chelsea/City. However United have a superstar and ours may well leave, and they just have that fabric of winning and four or five experienced winners. We will take time to gel still. Despite all the ridicule Arsenal will still be up there so it will be tough but I think we will finish 4th and Arsenal will finish 5th and fluke the CL.

Which will be nice again.

About 3 weeks ago I was genuinely petrified about the new season.

I thought the soul was being ripped out of the club, and still do to a certain extent. But now I think that process is/was necessary.

I am still concerned that these new players are actually good enough and I don't think we can read too much into beating the worst team I have ever seen in the EPL.

Swansea and Arsenal will show us exactly where we are at in my opinion.

I will consider our seasonal aspirations then.

3rd and automatic CL qualification. I think our squad will be better than both Man U and Arsenal if Willian and Lamela sign. An injury to RVP and Utd are fucked. We have good cover in most positions now.

I'm never normally this positive about Spurs.

3rd or above. Europa Cup and FA Cup. Let's get back the FA Cup which used to belong to us.

A spot in the CL and a good cup run, hopefully more than one. I have to say I don't think a CL spot is nailed on. Arsenal have the experience and the right mentality and they might pick up a couple of quality signings which could make all the difference to them. If we don't make C.L I hope that AVB stays.

I'm really looking forward to see how AVB handles this season with so many new faces.

Where we will finish? - Not a skuby - We won't be relegated (but I never do predictions.)

Expectations? None - I will enjoy watching my team play as I always COYS (well nearly always;) )

People were saying the same kind of thing when Arsenal lost RVP, Utd aren't going to fold like that, they find a way to win games.

Saying we won't get relegated is a prediction

CL qualification and a visit to Wembley.

I'd blow my beans for the Europa cup too but that'd just be greedy

Think with all the new players coming in regardless of their quality we will be in transition this season.
I predict we will finish 5th.
