COME ON!!!!

I'm not being funny but we're SPURS!

I've just read so many posts (barring a few which I tip my hat to) that are so negative. Some fans seem to be happy with a draw against the spammers, some even have the opinion that a low score defeat won't be a bad result.

Now I know we've not had the best start to the season but fir f**k sake, it's WEST HAM. They should be fearing us, we've turned a corner and are on the up, we've got the better squad, the better manager (lets be honest, whats Curbishley done) and Kings on his way back.

It's time for the team AND the fnas to get the winning mentality back, we're are the better side and on Sunday we'll prove that. We are a top 5 club, without doubt, and now it's time we showed that.

I for one can't wait for Sunday, a chance to beat the yo yo side that is the Spammers and get people beliving again.

I think we will win. They are a poor side, just like newcastle, who just come out in the opening 20 and give it everything. If you withstand the opening onslaught they are shit.

2-0 to the mighty spurs!

It will be interesting to see how we perform after this international break as Juande has had the chance to really hit the training ground with the players as many of the England boys weren't picked obviously. If Berba plays like he did against Wigan then their rubbish defence won't be able to cope. I am really looking forward to going to their crappy ground tomorrow.

Excellent optimism Klintheman :) However if you look at the team that trots out on Sunday it won't be a top 5 team - we're absolutely ****d by injuries, and hence I think we'll do well to get a draw and I believe the bookies now make West Ham slight favourites which if so is a correct assessment.

As a club we are far more successful than West Ham, but the teams that trot out on sunday will be well matched and West Ham's home support plus the fact it's their 'Cup final' makes them a little more likely to win than us.

Naturally I hope and trust the players will be positive and do their best, and the 'Ramos effect' might just tip it for us, but I can't go around being falsely optimistic, it's not my nature.

It also enables me to make a realistic early season prediction of 7th for us this season (probably too optimistic now I agree) while so many were talking of third fourth or fifth.

Jermaine Jenas has revealed how Juande Ramos helped make his mark at Tottenham by using his limited English to crack jokes with players at White Hart Lane.
The language barrier between the Spanish head coach and his squad has slowly been broken down in the three weeks since his appointment - and Spurs have been unbeaten in that time too.
Ramos has made changes in training but has also imposed his personality on his players since arriving from Sevilla.
"He likes to have a laugh," said Jenas. "His English is getting better, so he has started telling some more of his jokes.
"He has been taking the mickey out of us in Spanish and English. He has not been doing any pranks yet but he is very comfortable with us all.
"He is good to work with. You can tell he has won things and all he is trying to do is turn us into a successful team and there is respect there."
Improving fitness levels has been an area Ramos has worked on, Jenas explained.
"It's something he's realised we probably need a bit more of and he's done things to improve that," the 24-year-old midfielder added.

More positivity from JJ about Juande cracking jokes?!?!

What I have highlighted is quite possibly the biggest overstatement I have read on a forum. At the time West Ham beat Derby 0-5, they had 13 first team players injured. We have 5.

They've had a rub of the green (no pun intended) that we haven't; I don't know how they managed not to lose to Sunderland, let alone beat them. Derby were even worse than they were when we beat them, so you can't take too much from that.

It will be a close match, though; I seem to remember people thinking last season's game would be a bit of a breeze, and it most certainly wasn't. All the same, I think we'll shade it—and, interestingly, a win will put us one point better off than we were at the same stage three seasons ago.

We'll win because we're called Spurs and they'll lose because they're called West Ham? You have a point. A nonsensical and meaningless point, but a point nonetheless.

(4-1 Spurs....a Robbo error ofc on the spammers goal and JD bags a brace with Berba and Bent getting the other two)

Didn't we finish 9th 3 seasons ago, missing out on europe on the final day?

A win will still leave us 4 points worse off than last season but I think we can stop that getting worse and probably recoup some of them.

You think so GL? Well it's all about opinions, you've expressed yours about mine, you're entitled to that. At the time I was writing we had our 3 of our 5 first choice CBs injured (4 out of 6 if you count Dervitte) with another one doutbful - leading most to thinking we're gonna be playing a RB at CB. We had 2 of our LBs injured and because Bale can also play LM we had our one true LM injured plus the nearest one to him Steed also considered doubtful.

Yet you consider my statement to be 'quite possibly the biggest overstatement I have read on a forum'. Is that really your opinion of my comment? If so fair enough, but you won't be surprised that I profoundly disagree with your comment.

Now it may be that Steed & Kaboul will be fit, in which case the situation won't be so bad, but I repeat when I wrote this they were officially doubtful and thus the situation at this moment does look bad, and I am justified in my worries. Maybe I exaggerated a little, but that exaggeration is minimal compared to your condemnation of my coment.

Fair enough, I may be optimistic but I'd rather that than pessimism.

We are the better team, I just think that simple fact should breed confidence.

Klin I agree it's better to be optimistic than pessimistic, but what would neutrals say about the claim 'we are a better team than them' when they have 7 (I think) more points than us.

Then factor in we are away. Their home record is better than our away record, so the results this season don't suggest that we will be the better team tomorrow.

Maybe we will, of course I hope we do, but last I looked they were slight favourites and understandably so. So much will depend on the two teams injuries and how well some of the returning West Ham players perform.

Yet, if Jol was still in charge there would be people saying, we won't qualify for Europe, we'll get relegated, yada yada ya.
