Yes, and could be an extra one depending on who makes the fa cup final

To be honest i think a season without european football could be a good thing for the club, we can really push on in the league next season and who knows champions league football could be a possibility.

If we have a good spell in the league we could still qualify for Europe!!

Stranger things of happens, and it doesn't hurt to be ambitious...

Like Tyson being beaten by Buster Douglas? My prematch prediction is that we will not qualify for Europe for many years, I stand by it. Whats the point of us qualifying when we won't take it seriously anyway?

I would like it if it is another chance to give our backup players and youngsters to develop and push for 1st team football. Sadly the fans don't want that and don't back the manager. I think this UEFA cup doesn't mean any progress in long term, League should be our 1st aim now.

yeah we are 8pts behind west ham in 7th, so if Man U or whoever win the FA Cup then its a possibility.

if you think we cant catch 8pts you just wait and see everton and the red scum catch villa who are gonna flop big style (I hope)

Who's 'we'?

Unfortunately due to our league position and the CC Final coming up, Harry felt it best to field a weaker side this year.

That doesn't mean we have never taken it seriously, or that we will not take it seriously again, or even that the fans and players weren't taking it seriously.

The team who played on thursday - O'Hara, Bale, Palacios, Gunter to name but a few - played with more passion and drive that our 'first teamers' have done in many of our league fixtures this season.

I don't really see how we can make a realistic challenge in the UEFA cup. If we were high up in the league I bet Redknapp would still have put a weakened team out. The team played well on thursday but a stronger side would have given Shaktar a lot more trouble.

I dont think anyone, even man utd, would play a strong team in all 3 games, considering theres 2 more next week!

If we were say...where villa are...I would have agreed with him fielding a weaker team to try and get into the champions league.

The UEFA Cup is not a great financial benefit, the Champions League IS. Being in the UEFA is great fun, and I think our team is good enough to challenge for it

At the moment there's only one person who doesn't seem to take it seriously, Redknapp. I'd understand if we had crap players and were bottom of the league but we've got a decent side, just not as great as previous ones.

all valid points...without sounding like the ever optimistic spurs fan- positives will be taken whatever happens..we are only 8points off 7th with nothing but 12prem games to get on with..if we end up finishing 13th or so..then next season's our oyster..could go lasagnegate and one further! The future's not bleak my pedigree chums..:hello:
