I can't imagine Real selling Coentrão to us for a decent price, if we won't sell Bale. So in my mind Coantrão to us = Bale to them. So I don't want Coentrão... :)

They still owe us money for Modric...

@Realmadridplace: Real Madrid have chosen Granada's Siqueira to be Coentrao's replacement. Negotiations will start when Coentrao officially leaves. [AS]
Is this guy any good? Why don't we contact Granada then.

Even if they don't get Bale they may do it just to stay in our good graces for the next time that they try to sign him.

He is good, and I think RM would prefer Siqueira because he probably wouldn't kick up too much fuss at being second fiddle to Marcelo, whereas Coentrao wants to play.

Coentrao is the better player though, no doubt.

I think what we are going to see is Real Madrid trying to grossly inflate the value of some of these guys - Coentrao, Di Maria, etc. to try and offset the amount it will take to buy Bale.

No way Levy will go for that though.

If Bale really wants to go, then Real has the upper hand. We can't have our best player at 80% the whole season because of unhappiness, so we have to sell.
If he's happy to stay, however, then we have the upper hand.

Its the same thing each season, we leave things to late minute. The team we put out against Monaco was so inexperienced at the back it also looked weak in terms of quality depth- we have a really young squad.

The Soldado deal now makes more sense regardless of the price we paid also is there any other team that gathers the level of injuries like we do?

Get him. A player who knows is stuff. Could even help as a left winger to give Rose games at left back. The two of them could do a good interchange and practise that in pre sea.... oh Coentrao won't have one with us :(

Before he went to Madrid, I thought him and Bale were the two best young left sided players in the game. He hasn't really progressed at Madrid but agree he can play further forward.

I am hoping that we are wiping the Modric deal and maybe adding 5 to 10 mil for this deal... if we are paying the whole 25 mil I would be asking why have we not signed Bernard if we have that sort of cash to throw around.

I would like to see us go for him. I think getting him back playing every week he could push on again and develop into a very good player for us.

After AVB comments today about being disappointed with Madrid over Bale, cant see us getting anything done with Fabio

Coentrao not starting for Madrid - haven't seen the bench yet. Martinez have Everton lining up in a 3-4-3 interestingly.
