If we can't figure out Coentrao we should just go hard for Alex Sandro. He'd cost more money than Coentrao because he's younger and Porto are hard to deal with (and the Modric money, too), but he's fantastic and we might be able to lure Porto into selling and him coming here.

Been thinking of him for awhile as an alternative, would be fantastic buy if possible.

I have no idea about last seasons stats on crosses but it hardly matters whether it's crosses or passes it was pretty obvious Walker is an awful reader of attacking play, rarely positions himself well and can only rely on his pace to redeem himself sometimes. I don't really care about stats Walker is a poor defender

As for dithering some players can have all the options in the world but dither and that was a constant from Walker last season

Fortunately AVB can read a game better and keeps picking him.

Walker's passing against Swansea was atrocious, but he's a good player and the best we're going to get at RB. He's good in the final third, fast as hell, works well with the RW, better than Rose/BAE going forward and deciding when to go forward, etc.

LB is the far more important priority if you ask me.
that's a little unfair. his link up play with Lennon was great at Palace, he was my MOM. he waywardness against Swansea was in part due to Townsend not making lennon's runs.

honestly rather keep rose than get baines...... Coentrao seriously is on another level his dribbling and attacking instinct are far superior to most left wingers
I rate baines very highly in linking up down the left going forward and defending tenaciously, so we may just have to differ there. I put him above Coen, especially with his prem experience.

We should throw down for Baines also because we've been selling a lot of home grown players. Baines is quality same as Coentrao I guess, but if we could persuade him to play for us, he'd be more in tune with the club and the league.

I think if Rose was called Danielle Rosie and had come in from the French league and played how he has done in pre season and since we started people would be raving about him and saying he is part of the reason we kept 3 clean sheets. But Contreao is a top class LB and will add something to the side. We will have 3 players capable of playing at the top level in every position in my opinion.

completely agree Rose is obviously turning into really good left fullback in front of our eyes very much like benny's development as it will take time but contreao is on another planet and will improve danny rose just by him being at the same training ground!

defensively I think Baines has improved and is probably a better defender bu i'm not sure as I've never seen Contreao defend but attacking wise there is really no comparing them ..... I also think he's better going forward than Marcelo and that's a serious endorsement from me.

He's so good going forward i could see AVB deploying him in the right wing fwd role

Lets not mess around with Porto again. Especially when they have sold Moutinho and Rodriguez for a lot of money.

Woah, that's bold. Sounds like you've watched him closely so I'll take your opinion seriously...but still disagree overall;)

I like Walker, but you can't put all of that on Townsend, he was just straight passing the ball to Swansea at times. That being said, it does go to show how well Lennon and Walker work together.

Well he admitted making a mistake by not playing Dawson and maybe he'll see he has made another mistake playing Walker
wrong thread but scary thing about walker is he's gonna get alot better ...... for me easily should be one of the first name on ours and englands team sheet!

Except the ego maniac that is danny rose has already said he refuses to be a squad player - therefore if we sign FC he walks.

So long rose.

Enjoy sunderland.
