Problem is we were the first amateur team to win the FA cup in 1901. In the next 60 years we won it once. In the 60's to the 90's we won't it 6 times

Since then we haven't won it again in 30 years our second longest drought in our history

Its worth noting in the worst drought of 40 years, we had a world war, with no football for 6 years and we were in the 2nd division for 13 years

What makes it worse, we have had some amazing teams in that period. This drought of 30 years is unacceptable regardless, whether or not we should be winning it every year

Slight correction, Spurs turned professional in1895 .
After the formation of the Football League they were the first non-league club to win the FA cup but were not amateur.

Were we though?

We were playing in the amateur Southern League?

I know there was an incident where we were declared as a professional club after buying a kit for a player, who had his kit "stolen" in 1895 but did we pay players after that?

It is a crime how we haven't replaced Dembele, Eriksen and Vertonghen and Leicester are there with an actual strategy and not blowing the transfer funds or wage structure to fund their replacements.
Exactly Leicester plan to improve. We replace or use the backups and expect them to be as good.

We were the last non league team to win the FA Cup. The last non league team to compete in the FA Cup Final was Southampton. Non league doesn't mean amateur. We were not part of the football league. Therefore a non league club.

I think most importantly, the mantra “The Game Is About Glory” really hits home.

I’m fed up of topping the net spend table, or being frugal. Fuck all that.
Give me something to cheer about. Give me something to brag about. Give me something to be ecstatic about, if only it’s for a day or two.
It's amazingly ironic and even scandalous to say, 'The game is about glory' and 'To Dare is to Do' are our club mottos, when our players are probably the mentally weakest bunch of inept down tools who hides in games that really matter and at finals.

The club should really coach character development. Like how good schools teach and embrace their values to their students to build the identity of the school.

Enjoyed the final
I just wish it was us, Spurs there today.
Credit to the Leicester owners being the FA Cup winners.
Leicester fans out sung Chavs.
Chavs fans could not even support at the end, great to see.

Makes me a little sick, recent premier League champs, fa cup winners
Smaller club, less resource's than us yet look at the difference.
Doesn't matter who's coaching us or what players we have I'm starting to think a change in ownership is needed
It’s not just the ownership though is it. We’ve always been one of the “big” clubs but we’ve only won 4 trophies in nearly 40 years(1UEFA Cup, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cups)!!! Time and time again we bottle it in the important games. Leicester players today worked their socks off and deserved their win. Our players in the other hand fail to turn up in finals( and semi finals) and you can’t lay that at the feet of the owners even if there plenty of other things you can blame them for.

on another note: hats off to Jamie Vardy. The only player in the whole history of the FA Cup to have played in every one of the 14 rounds of that competition. Historic. It’s highly unlikely any other player will ever match that. That’s what dreams are made of.

For his age. Is just incredible. No reason for Bale not to sprint TBH.

OK they've won more in the last 5 years than we've won in the last 30 but we've got the better multi-purpose event space so is there that much of a difference between us?
Yes indeed what are we these days The North London multi event stadium or Tottenham Hotspur FC.

The Southern League was professional at the time. Some people at the time considered the Southern League to be close to the Football League's (all clubs there being from the North or Midlands of England, apart from Woolwich) quality of football. Being close to the FL's level couldn't have been achieved by amateur clubs. It's also worth mentioning that no amateur league would allow professional clubs to join (or stay, if they became professional while members of said league).

According to Wiki , Southern League was a mixture of pro and amateur clubs , pretty sure Spurs would have been paying players in 1901 , in 1898 Spurs became a Limited Company so the directors were pretty serious about expanding the club.

"Formation of the Southern League
Nonetheless, another attempt was made to form the Southern League, and this time it was successful. A competition for both professional and amateur clubs was founded in 1894 under the initiative of Millwall Athletic (now simply Millwall). Initially only one division was envisaged, but such was the enthusiasm, that eventually two divisions were formed. "
