The day the FA killed the most famous cup competition in the world.

This used to be the day I looked forward to more than any other in the footballing season.

So many factors really. Fergie playing weakened United teams, becoming a sponsored tournament, having the semi-finals at Wembley on a ruined Wembley pitch, and now having the final before the season has finished.

It's just not special these days.

There's FA cup third round games on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Is that really necessary?

Carroll starting for Swansea at Tranmere. Very much a weakened team for them, though.

Premier League clubs were asked which day they preferred their ties to be played on after the Xmas fixtures.

Its just the way Xmas and New Years fell.

Wait until the Qatar World cup, then you will be complaining.

Gateshead hanging tight with WBA.....so much so that Pulis moved from the Directors box to the technical area...

Blyth Spartans 2-0 Birmingham. Hopefully they can hold on and get Man United or some big Premier League club in the next round.

It's been a stroll in the Prenton Park for Swansea this afternoon, who pounce when Tranmere give the ball away and Mo Barrow crosses for Tom Carroll who takes one touch past the defender then buries his side's second of the afternoon from 12 yards out.

I'm watching it. Was a very tidy finish.

Brum get 1 back.
