Didn't you just wish he had butted him. Over 40 years of watching (not too many at the Lane these days though) so many memories. My first and only Wembley final 1967 Spurs 2-Chavski 1
[yt]omPK2nvb9G0&feature=PlayList&p=020F3CA7799829BA&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=11[/yt]

First home game at the Lane was a few months later at Spurs 5 West Ham 1 (no video love it if anyone has one though). I lived in East London (nr Ilford)and as a kid the nearest team to go and see was West Ham. It was there that I saw Spurs lose to West Ham 4-3 the season before. However it was that game and Jimmy Greaves that made me the Spurs fan that I am still today. My dad got tickets for the 67 final from a mate at Fords and took me as my birthday present.
More recently a certain 5-1 win over the gooner scum ranks high enough.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Would've been classic if MJ had butted him right in the mug. However, he was far too decent a bloke for any of that, which is another reason why I love him. :)

Regarding the 4-4 at the Emirates last season.

I have had the following page bookmarked in my browser since the game, and I love the reaction of Stevo (the BBC text commentary guy), it always reminds me of how amazing that night was!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7698546.stm

I also love the way he puts down the Gooner with sour grapes (who texts in at the end of the evening).

I was too young to attend the '67 final. I made do with the 71 & 73 League cup finals against Villa & Norwich with the 1972 UEFA win against Wolves, the club had endured eight years of mediocrity while the latter half of the seventies was spent watching Arsenal and West Ham in Wembley finals - 1981 was our time having suffered the relegation and the renewal in 1978 -Unfortunately the mid 80's gave us another blip in our history and things have been patchy and fits and starts have seen us nick a trophy now and again- much to my disappointment.

This thread/link should be kept for posterity, its essence is like the content of the dead sea scrolls... Beautiful.

viz:
2204: So, Arsenal could only draw with Spurs, a result Cesc Fabregas has infamously claimed Arsenal Ladies could achieve. What with his comments and Geovanni's "I feel sorry for Scolari because we will beat Chelsea", do you think footballers will keep quiet from now on? I hope they don't, the chat's almost as invaluable as the games.

Loving it.

Absolutely. It makes me smile every time. Especially this bit:

2201: "Spurs did nothing in that game except finish their four chances. Clichy slips and Eboue and Cesc don't have the sense to play for time. Feel physically sick. Far far worse than getting beat 5-1 last season. What were they thinking?"
Medieval-Evil on 606

You've just written the greatest 606 sentence of all time. "Spurs did nothing in that game except finish their four chances." Think about what you've just said. Unbelievable.

Apart from all the usual games, I don't know why but this one really sticks out. Just sitting at home with my dad and going crazy knocking a few cups of tea over in the process.

Funny how lots of people (quite rightly) mention Gazzas goal as one of the best ever, yet this carbon copy seldom gets a mention.

What a thread!! Well there are a number of times. Tonk Parks penalty saves in the UEFA Cup, Gazza's freekick against the Goons, the 5 1 demolition of Chelski in the League Cup semis, Wooders winner against the same bunch, Younes's equaliser against the Vile I could go on and on. However, my fave was Keano's equaliser in the game against Chelski 4-4. I almost went on the pitch that night!! I still hadn't calmed down by the time I got to Ealing!! I was like a raving lunatic that night. Brought back great memories. Cheers fella COYS!!!!

Actually, maybe i approach this from the wrong angle - as a Spurs fan, one of the best moments i remember was seeing two goals in the last ten minutes from Eto'o and Belletti in the 2006 Champions League final

cos that's the closest the Woolwich are ever gonna get :hump:

"Tot el camp .
és un clam som la gent blau-grana .
tant se val d´on venim, si del sud o del nord,
ara estem d´acord,
estem d´acord una bandera ens agermana:
blau-grana al vent,
un crit valent,
tenim un nom,
el sap tothom:
Barça! Barça! Baaarça!

Careful mate, some people on here think they are a 'joy to watch'. You'll be shouted down for offending them with that kind of talk!!

haha! Well, i see a Barca shirt hanging over there in my wardrobe, next to all my lilwhite shirts (well, the ones that still fit - sadly, i had to submit my 88 Hummel to the archive section of my wardrobe) but i don't see any Woolwich rags

In fact, the only red shirts i have are work related, i have two and i never wear them anyway

I have exactly the same mate, I was at Barcelona v L.A. Galaxy last weekend with my Barca shirt on! I've been a very passive fan since I was a kid (naturally Spurs are no.1 with me by a million miles) but I will always love them for shafting the pikeys in Paris.

The only red shirt I own is the British & Irish Lions. Other than that NEVER RED!!

A friend of mine took his girlfriend to Barca a few weeks after the Champions League final so i begged him to get me a shirt, seeing as i wasn't going to be making it there anytime soon - they had just anounced they were going to wear a sponsor and, whilst i admire the work UNICEF do and the deal that was struck, i wanted a "proper" shirt, so he went on a tour of the Nou Camp whilst he was there and bought me one from the shop.

Not even a football fan either, he just doesn't get the game at all, but he admitted the place felt more like a cathedral than a football stadium :hump:
