Ill be sad to see him go. IMO a very good defender, maybe a bit slow to how Poch wants to line up. Good organizer, but not without a mistake or two, saying this i think he will be colossus for West Brom.... one for the fantasy team.

Good luck Fazio!

Another 5
Mill in the coffers. No good if we don't spend it though is it
I'm sure it'll come in handy when Levy upgrades his jacuzzi lighting.

I do feel like we 'ruin' some player's careers. Most would argue that the players weren't really good enough to shine and that as fans we remember the failures at or own clubs far more readily/easily. And the likes of Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale do buck that trend.

But the likes of Rebrov, Soldado, Lamela perhaps amongst others stings.

I say this because Fazio was good enough to be a regular and lead Seville to UEFA Cup glory and now will be at WBA who, to be frank are small time.

Perhaps that's an indictment of La Liga vs EPL.

Apart from Dier & Davies, the incomings from last summer have become this summer's outgoings, as well as the dross from the summer before. Its been a shambles from start to finish since Bale left, and some would say perhaps even before that to when Redknapp was sacked.

As much as I appreciate what Levy has implemented & tried to implement, the proverbial 'ball' has definitely been dropped when conducting the due dilligence of both coaching & playing staff. Its no secret. Unfortunately the Poch has been left to pick up the pieces, but at least all these outgoings are big steps in the right direction.

Hopefully we can get another forward who can play either wide, or through the middle & a defensive-minded midfielder. Illaramendi, who has been touted, was immense for the Spanish U21 side that won the Euro Championship. His range of passing was exquisite and he is quite mobile. Not seen much of Sebastian Rode, but you're not going to be a mug if Pep Guardiola takes a punt on you.

He will probably do a very good job there but as others have said just to slow for the way we play.

100% Agree with your last sentence...it's not just players at Spurs that haven't made the grade - Shevcenko was hardly a success at Chelsea whereas when he and Rebrov played together at Kiev they were quality together. Also Di Maria and Falcao who both excelled in La Liga weren't quite cut out for the Premiership. Not all players adapt to the English game, but the ones that do are those that stand out - Modric, Ronaldo, Fabregarse, for example. And unfortunately with the demand from managers and owners for quick results, I think that players like Fazio, Stambouli, etc. are not getting the chance to adapt and prove their worth.

I guess that's the difference in tactics.

We buy players on wholesale with potential with the hopes of the cream rising to the top but little thought to putting a team together and how the new arrivals fit in.

Under a Redknapp style manager there is a concentration on character and buying to fit the team's needs.

I do hate the conveyor belt of players coming in and out but overall it works pretty well.

And we wonder why our transfer policy gets criticised.
Another one in & out the door in less than 2 years (in his & Stambouli's case, 12 months)!!

I find it astonishing that our scouting network, chairman, technical director & coach - the recruitment team - are signing players that are discarded so quickly.

This demonstrates there has been something seriously wrong with our approach since 2012. Simplistically, could you argue that the man picking the team doesn't have enough say on incomings?? Or do we concentrate on our no1 choice too much, even if they're highly unlikely (Moutinho, Schneiderlin, Mussachio)??
I understand we'll have a list of targets and we work our way down that list but it seems to me 'plans' B, C, D etc are not good enough.

I don't expect every transfer to work out, but our hit rate over the last 3 years is worrying.

Playing for spurs is like working in a call centre. Turnover of staff is embarrassing. The moral is generally very low in places like that. How an earth are you suppose to generate team spirit. I think its showing in our generally uninspired performances.

Good luck to Fazio. Steady, honest, but slow and not quite good enough for us I think is an honest assessment?
Please Levy get on with BUYING in the last ten days of the transfer window.

I don't think you can really say we ruined Soldado and Lamela (I was only a kid when Rebrov was around so my memory of his time is foggy). Both Soldado and Lamela were given all of the support and time they could possibly get. They just struggled in this league, no fault of the club.

With Fazio, I believe he's a very good defender, he's just not suitable for the way we like to fuck about defensively. In a team that defends properly, he'll be a beast. For instance, I think he'd do very well at Chelsea.

A lot of people, pundits include did criticise our use of Soldado, saying he was never really every going to succeed as a lone striker and always profited from wing play, early crosses and a striking partner. We never really played to his previous strengths

Lamela, I dunno.

Soldado never made sense as a purchase. In the weeks before we signed him we'd put an offer in for Benteke; how on earth was he Plan B??! One of them's a 6ft 2 beast the other is 5ft 9 fox in the box.
This is what's bothered me about our signings. The plans b, c, d etc are nothing like plan a.

A fox in the box that turned into a stench on the bench...
