More to the point, if Poch wants him, and his teams have been very good defensively, then we should all be happy. Seville are on tv about twice a year so cant imagine many people on here have a clue what they are talking about with him

This. Some of the best centre-halves of recent history did not necessarily have pace in common, but they were very intelligent. Hummels, Mertersacker (2014), Puyol (2010), Matterazi, Cannavaro (2006), Lucio, Roque Junior (2002), Desailly, Lebeouf (1998), all world cup winners. Pique/Puyol aside from the above (and maybe Desailly), none of these partnerships were renound for their blistering pace, more so for ability to read the danger and act early. I'd be delighted to have some smarts added to our backline (if indeed this guy does have some vision). Jan is sometimes too focused on getting the ball back up the pitch before he's even intercepted it (E.g: Chelsea last season) and IMO Kaboul reads the game as well as I read mandarin after 6 pints and a greasy kebab

Whilst watching the Europa league final I thought we should go for him. Thought he was absolutely fantastic in that game.
Love how people are writing him off after never seeing him play. He's no Walker but he ain't particularly slow. He is extremely good in the air, something we lack, and seems to read the game well.
What CBs would win a foot race with say Sterling? If the team are doing their job that shouldn't be happening. Also it's why Lloris staying is such a massive thing. Everyone is far too obsessed with pace, didn't realise Mertesacker was fast, or more relevantly Lovren and Fonte.

True, that's true. Faking a press conference is hella difficult though. This has actually happened y'know. Granted, he didn't mention Spurs by name, but it's quite clear that the player is going and it's quite clear that he's going to us.
