There was definitely a story going round that we received an offer for Carrick. Comolli recommended Zokora as the next Patrick Vieira and we could get him for half the price so Carrick was sold.

Regardless of whether that story was true I believe Carrick would have been sold that summer. With 2 years left on his contract Levy got a great deal.

careful with this "legend" stuff

while it might have stopped ferguson from bidding for our players, you also have to logically expect that it works both ways and some clubs will refuse to talk to us about players we really want - because they will assume it will be too much hassle dealing with levy

Sounds like bollocks from Fergie. Think he's covering for the fact he let Modric slip through his fingers.

I read that whole article and it was terrible apart from that bit. It came across as a journo not having a clue about actually what happens at thfc just basing it off what he thinks it like.

Yeah that article was terrible. Figures and dates wrong, as well as a misread of other things.

I actually couldn't believe what I was reading at times. He's not actually a bad journalist but it was obvious he was commenting on things he knew nothing about.

Especially seeing as there were articles from other journos in the days before covering exactly the same points.
