Fairly new to the EPL, I support Tottenham! Great game vs Chelsea. Brillant. Just wondering , are flags not allowed for fans in the EPL? Seeing flags at Dortmund, etc...

We tried one a few seasons back but by the time the health and safety bods had finished with it it was the size of a postage stamp. Will probably work better on the new Park Lane.

Yeah. It was pretty pathetic.

I don't hold out hope for the new stadium either, particjualry since by all accounts this entire holdup is health and safety related. These things don't get laxer ... not that i give a shit. Fuck flags, they just mess up the view.

I think we should make some effort to be a bit ‘colourful’. European sides lead the way with this stuff and while it’s good to have your own identity I think we’d all benefit from turning it up to 11. What’s the point in having one big tier otherwise?

That said, don’t turn it into the darts. Anyone who turns up dressed as Superman should go flying off the abseiling disc without a rope.

Look at Wolves with their Nuno flag, or Newcastle with their Rafa flags. It's proper deity level stuff. The sort of thing that AC Milan did with that legendary Capello team with Gullit and Rikaard.

If Poch doesn't deserve a 5 storey flag of his face, with "He's magic you know" written across it, no one does.

And if he swoops down then stretches his arms in front of him and sweeps up and over the glorious south stand singing Glory hallelujah would you let him in then?

I digress, but if we don't have Chirpy abseiling to the turf from an RAF helicopter on the opening match at NWHL, then we've failed as a club in my eyes.

I think helicopters should keep their distance from football stadiums.

I’m allergic to Nylon and get clostraphobic under a flag. I sense a petition is in order.

@gilzeantheking , you’re a bad person. I didn’t mean this as a joke. I thought that pre-Leicester. Certainly post-Harding. It’s just too showy for such an unnecessary timesaver. I’d draw the line at Emergency services, AirWolf and Blue Thunder.

There's no culture of "ultras" with banners and flags and some twat at the front with a megaphone etc. in English football. English fans by and large find all that nonsense pretty cringe to be honest. There was a group a few years ago who started trying to bring all that stuff in, but they had a chant where they'd all wave a shoe in the air for no reason so I think they got told to politely fuck off. Dunno what happened to them in the end.

I'm not sure, my dad (68) had a huge S****horpe United banner, which was held up by two poles at either end, with the rattle and everything. He said going to matches in the 50s and 60s was a very vibrant affair.

YEah don't get me wrong, occassionally we have banners etc. and there are some like you mentioned, for example Chelsea always have those ones hanging from the top tier etc. but we don't have a culture of the ultras-style massive choreographed banners covering the whole stand and everyone waving giant flags like you see at German games etc.

I think Chris Cowlin in his last video said flags are being encouraged at the new WHL, whether that is true remains to be seen

All we need in the new 'Shelf End' is a small drum

Stick your blue flag and any other colour up your ass

Scarves and banners are good

Need tic a tape for the grand opening. My most vivid memory of the old WHL was Ardiles & Villa debut. The tic a tape entrance was fantastic
