My evidence in support of the thread title is the following Twitter thread showing pictures from the 1984/85 Panini football sticker album. Look at their pictures vs their ages at the time, and tell me that players today aren't pampered babies. Back in the 80s, life meant that you looked like a grizzled pensioner who'd spent his entire life doing hard labour in a coal mine by the time you were 30, as this thread so clearly proves.

I reckon most now would with just shave their head completely or grow a beard. They were probably very fashionable for the time but clearly there just wasn’t a point where someone stopped these fellas in the street and told them to have a look at themselves.

I mean, it's one thing for people to tell them to have a look at themselves but when they're basically all Last Crusade-ing it in real time it's not like they had much to work with, is it?
