Having watched Ireland dominate but struggle to finish with a draw away to Slovakia following a Keane failure to connect enough with a great cross, having a penalty saved (well placed but no power), failing to control a clearance (which would have lead to a goal chance had it been controlled, but from which Slovakia broke got a corner and a goal - bloody Whelan the useless git who also let his Russian man in), and again failure to adequately control a cross (which should have led to a slot it home goal to win the game), it is obvious that Keane is not getting enough game time and without it is not up to doing the job for Spurs or Ireland.

Keane has been a great servent of Spurs.

We have quickly forgotten the days when he was one of the few saving us from relegation.

We forget how many man of the match performances he gave.

We forget his player of the seasons.

We forget that we were League Cup Champions when he left for Liverpool.

We forget that we were in the relegation zone before he returned from Liverpool and in the top four when he went to Celtic.

We forget he has cost us nothing NOTHING in transfer fees.

We forget all those goals that have put him within a few goals of being a top 5 all time Spurs goals scorers.

We just remember his latest ...should have could have scored chance.

Without confidence he is only half the player he can and has been.

Reluctantly unless Redknapp believes in him and gives him the main striker job, he needs to be set free from Spurs on loan or transfer. God knows Liverpool could do with him now....... and no more of that ignorant he deserted us bull.

I remember all those things mate but to put it simply "He has not been performing!!" when he has been given a chance. I am getting fed up of people going on about what he has done in years gone by. It is the present and he ain't doing it!

Thing is, and I still believe that he has it in him, we can't put him in the team if we're getting the results without him. What we can do is give him the odd, limited opportunity when needs must (injuries/ chasing a game) and hope that he takes it. That's all Bale got after a similar length out and look at him now. Dawson too, and Hutton to a lesser extent, and even Jenas, Pavlyuchenko and last season, Bentley, to varying degrees. Keane currently falls into the Giovani bracket of being a player who needs to do so much in a limited opportunity that he keeps his place, or at least enough to make him more trusted like the others mentioned above.

We've been giving him the odd limited opportunity for yonks and he failed. That's why we sent him to Celtic.

Past performance is no guide to anything. He was great for us. He isn't now. VdV is better.

Stick or twist?

Twist.

The thing is, as much as I love Robbie, we need to move him on for the sake of the club, not as some like to think of it, as doing it for him as some kind of gesture to save his career.

We cant afford to have someone on the bench who is going to kick up a stink at not playing football and getting paid 65k a week. It doesn't make sense, we need to take a hit on him for the good of Tottenham Hotspur, not for the good of Robbie Keane.

Oh I know, I'm just saying that the only way he'll ever make it with us again is if he manages to take one of these opportunities.

Seeing as we're moving towards a 1 forward system anyway, I'd move him on in January for as much as we can get for him and have our fourth forward as someone young and hungry like Kane, who can cover either AM or CF, that is if Kane continues to excel at his current levels. Utd, beneath Rooney and Berba, only have Owen as a senior forward. Then it's Chicharito and Macheda, both bablets still.

How do you explain 18 league goals, nearly firing us to the Champions League, in 05/06 being partnered by either Mido or Defoe for the final 2/3 of the season, having been on the bench behind both of them for the first 1/3 of the season, Azazello?

He was better that season than in either Berbatov season in my opinion. And he was great with Berbatov.

Wow yes, a neutral person who has just suggested that the way forward might be replace Keane with a 17 year old who I've only seen live a handful of times, but then reminded people of a time, pre Berbatov, when he had an unbelievable season (the second half of that season being the first half of his 2006 top league scorer in the premier league achievment, by the way). I must be Robbie Keane in disguise. Well done, you're so smart and perceptive. I want to build a statue of you and stroke it's bollocks for good luck every morning, you inspire me just that much.

Harry isn't going to give him a chance because he's not Crouch or Defoe so he needs to move on. It's a waste of a good striker for him to be wasting his last few seasons on our bench.

Pav should move on as well because until we get a real top quality striker no-one is going to dislodge Harry's favourites.

I think that's unfair

They're Harry's favourites cause they're (IMO) quite clearly our most effective all round strikers

People were saying Keane was a Harry favourite not that long ago!

I remember everything Hoddle did but I wouldn't put him back in the team.
